WOW! This phone is.. TERRIBLE.

Jul 1, 2009 by texting.addict

Wanna have everyday migraines? Wanna be frustrated? Wanna hate yourself? Then buy the LG VX-8600 / AX 8600!

Talk about a bad phone!

PROS:
*The way to see the text from the front of the screen.
*Light, thin, and small.

CONS:
*Buttons are not separated or whatever so it was hard to text.
*Froze up every time I tried to text someone.
*Stopped receiving calls and wouldn't let me reply to texts whenever it would receive them.
*Always roaming.
*Very delicate/fragile/whatever, do not bend them back wards!!!!
*Photos usually come out blurry.
*Scratches super easy!
*Hello fingerprint-magnet!
*Battery life is awful.
*Bad reception.. ANYWHERE!
*Sooooooooooooooooooo slow... at everything.
*Ringtones suck.
*Ringer isn't very loud.
*MP3 sucks.
*Shuts on and off repeatably.
*Speakerphone stinks on ice.
*When the charger door on the phone breaks off, plug it up with something or that will ruin your way to charge the phone.
*Mobile web is really slow.
Oh and if you make calls like everyday and have to maybe for your job.. DO NOT get this phone - every call is a dropped call.
Best of luck to you if you have it, want it, buying it as I am typing, or are getting it in the near or far future.. I know I needed it.

Good Phone

Lightweight, nice phone. Only bad thing about it is the speaker. Don't get this if you want to use it as a speaker phone. Takes decent pics. Good call quality.

Pros:
Lightweight
Takes good pics
Black color

Cons:
Speaker

Beautify, but not a good phone

Dec 8, 2008 by MrGooch

Beautiful phone, nice screen, nice size, easy to stick in your pocket. The keypad is better then the RAZR, but still not all the great.

RF(reception) is bad, drops calls and can't get a signal where the better LG and all Motorolas can. Audio quality is also very poor, people on the other end complain about the sound being muffled and tinny and it isn't much better at the 8600 end.

Battery life is not good, and on top of that the original battery only lasted 9 months.

PROS:
-Screen is bright
-Good MP3 player(with earphones)
-Slim

Cons:
-Battery
-RF
-Audio(phone)
-Build quality
-Bad speakerphone sound quality

It was a good thing that I bought this phone on a one year contract, it began falling apart after about 11 months and became unusable (broken hinges, non-functioning displays) after 13 months.

Don't do it!

Oct 30, 2008 by rossfordwoman

This phone was given to us for free and I see why. It is almost pointless. My son misses all calls if he's indoors and his outgoing phone message says "leave me a message because otherwise I won't know you called!"

Why did they stray so far from the design of the 8300?

PROS:
It's cute, thin, shiny

CONS:
NO RECEPTION WHATSOEVER, in places where outdated phones can get reception!
TOO easy to hit wrong button since they are not raised/separated
Flimsy little SD door falls off
Battery comes loose
Shows every scratch and dent
Could be made a lot smaller

Unless you get it for free or cheap, don't make the mistake of buying this phone!

Good for a while

This phone was really good to me the first three or four months i had it, then the paint started wearing off and the buttons screwed up, no problem with signal or volume though.

PROs
Big Screen
Good camera (when it works)

CONs
Paint on sides wore off 4 months into it
Camera stopped working 6 months into it
Screen began to glitch 7 months into it
Keyboard stopped working correctly 8 months into it

I like it, for what it's does.

I bought this phone a while back. I've only had to replace it ONCE. It's a signal hound!
Call quality is great. Screen is very crisp and full of color. Easy to call and text. Browser or mobile web is nothing new for most Verizon LG phones in this bracket. Mp3 player is fair/poor. Sound out of speaker is VERY poor. Music player is same as on most phones in bracket. Camera is same. Pics seem to be pixelated and color settings don't help much (if left on default). But some pics come out ok. I got it for it's size and ease of use. To make up for the short comings I use the earbuds for music. And adjust pic settings (a must) to get best pic quality available.

OVERALL:

Phone does what it says. To text. Play music in a pinch or play for extended periods (using earbuds W/ required adapter) browsing WAP browser, playing Vcast vids, taking fair pics. And of course size and looks, this phone is recommended. I know this phone now is MOSTLY found on eBay but those looking around. This phone is good. It does nothing PERFECT (other than phone calls and text messages). But does most fair. When buying this phone remember, It's a phone FIRST, media center later. Calls and other phone features work great, the rest could be improved on ,which it has, ( i.e. Chocolate 2, Which I own).

Worst phone I've had in a while

Jul 16, 2008 by JDOH

OK, so I registered just to write this, so you better read the whole thing!!!

This is one of the worst phones I've had for a while and I have still a year until I can get a new one!

This thing is ridiculous.

Pros:
-small, light, thin
-decent reception (par for all phones)

Cons:
**See end of list for my biggest cons!**
-Scratches! ugh.
-mp3 playback is sub-par
-buttons are difficult to distinguish with feel, and I don't have fat fingers.
-camera kinda sucks (compared to like a razr)but I guess it is just a phone...
-fingerprints are aweful. what were they thinking?
********Biggest cons*******
-The little side plastic cover for where the charger goes fell off, so now there's just the rubber thing that's impossible to get out of the hole and if I take it off (tear it off) crap will get in there
-THE SIDE BUTTON (VOLUME CONTROL BUTTON), THE DOWN ARROW IS BROKEN!!! ARRRGGGGHHH!
This is present on my girlfriends phone too. Actually it happened to hers first then mine. It makes it impossible to turn down MP3's when exercising and impossible to turn the volume up when talking to someone on the phone. This is VERY frustrating and I'm sure Verizon won't do anything about it but in all fairness I haven't even asked.

This is by far the worst phone out of my last 4 or 5 phones. I had one other (motorola) where the antenna broke off all the time... it was like a metal phone. Other than that, it was a tank. My last LG even was pretty damn good... This phone sucks.

If anyone else has experienced the charger hole cover falling off or the side button volume down stop working and has figured anything out, please please contact me!

Good camera; bad battery, bad reception

Jul 11, 2008 by lyomed

PRO: as a small photo-camera, LG 8600 is good, even with couple of flops. First of all, moving pictures to the card is a real torture: it requires 7-8 steps; the second: zoom is not supposed and does not work for the best resolution. However, i like quality of pictures and tortured myself several times moving pictures to my 2 GB card.
CON: In standby status with 10-15 minutes talks my battery works for about 30 hours and dies; Verizon technicians offered me another, fat battery which would immediately ruin weight and size of the phone. This means that 220 hours promised by manufacturer is a pure lie and the technicians know that.
Reception is bad. At the first 2-3 weeks after I bought the phone I had reception in my home (Boston suburb). After the first month it did not work. First I though that the battery is guilty and checked reception when the phone is plugged into charger. It did not help. So I have to come for 5-10 feet out of home to get reception again.
I keep this phone mostly as a mini photo-camera.

Bad Quality Phone

Jul 1, 2008 by missbroadway247

Pros:
nice design
colorful screen
good menu options
nice camera

Cons:
breaks
bad quality

I have had this phone for about a year now and it is just horrible quality. The hinge broke and a piece chipped off so when i put the phone up to my ear when calling the cover flaps down so i hang up on them.
I am not impressed with LG this time.
