The reception is pretty good even at the beach house. The battery life is ok, but the phone becomes warm if i'm talking for a while. Otherwise it's a good basic phone for me. It's December 2010 and it still works great! In fact, I still have the original battery. What's keeping me from upgrading to the newer smartphones are the costs and being a little old-fashioned and technically challenged, especially when technologies improve. Then buy the LG VX-8600 / AX 8600! <br /><br />Talk about a bad phone!<br /><br />PROS:<br />*The way to see the text from the front of the screen.<br />*Light, thin, and small.<br /><br />CONS:<br />*Buttons are not separated or whatever so it was hard to text.<br />*Froze up every time I tried to text someone.<br />*Stopped receiving calls and wouldn't let me reply to texts whenever it would receive them.<br />*Always roaming.<br />*Very delicate/fragile/whatever, do not bend them back wards!!!!<br />*Photos usually come out blurry.<br />*Scratches super easy!<br />*Hello fingerprint-magnet!<br />*Battery life is awful.<br />*Bad reception.. ANYWHERE!<br />*Sooooooooooooooooooo slow... at everything.<br />*Ringtones suck.<br />*Ringer isn't very loud.<br />*MP3 sucks.<br />*Shuts on and off repeatably.<br />*Speakerphone stinks on ice.<br />*When the charger door on the phone breaks off, plug it up with something or that will ruin your way to charge the phone.<br />*Mobile web is really slow.<br />Oh and if you make calls like everyday and have to maybe for your job.. DO NOT get this phone - every call is a dropped call.<br />Best of luck to you if you have it, want it, buying it as I am typing, or are getting it in the near or far future.. The keypad is better then the RAZR, but still not all the great.<br /><br />RF(reception) is bad, drops calls and can't get a signal where the better LG and all Motorolas can. I've only had to replace it ONCE. It's a signal hound!<br />Call quality is great. Screen is very crisp and full of color. Easy to call and text. Browser or mobile web is nothing new for most Verizon LG phones in this bracket. Mp3 player is fair/poor. Sound out of speaker is VERY poor. Music player is same as on most phones in bracket. Camera is same. Pics seem to be pixelated and color settings don't help much (if left on default). But some pics come out ok. I got it for it's size and ease of use. To make up for the short comings I use the earbuds for music. And adjust pic settings (a must) to get best pic quality available. <br /><br /><br /><br />OVERALL:<br /><br /><br /><br />Phone does what it says. To text. Play music in a pinch or play for extended periods (using earbuds W/ required adapter) browsing WAP browser, playing Vcast vids, taking fair pics. And of course size and looks, this phone is recommended. I know this phone now is MOSTLY found on eBay but those looking around. This phone is good. It does nothing PERFECT (other than phone calls and text messages). But does most fair. When buying this phone remember, It's a phone FIRST, media center later. It makes it impossible to turn down MP3's when exercising and impossible to turn the volume up when talking to someone on the phone. This is VERY frustrating and I'm sure Verizon won't do anything about it but in all fairness I haven't even asked.<br /><br />This is by far the worst phone out of my last 4 or 5 phones. I had one other (motorola) where the antenna broke off all the time... it was like a metal phone. Other than that, it was a tank. My last LG even was pretty damn good... First of all, moving pictures to the card is a real torture: it requires 7-8 steps; the second: zoom is not supposed and does not work for the best resolution. However, i like quality of pictures and tortured myself several times moving pictures to my 2 GB card.<br />CON: In standby status with 10-15 minutes talks my battery works for about 30 hours and dies; Verizon technicians offered me another, fat battery which would immediately ruin weight and size of the phone. This means that 220 hours promised by manufacturer is a pure lie and the technicians know that. <br />Reception is bad. At the first 2-3 weeks after I bought the phone I had reception in my home (Boston suburb). After the first month it did not work. First I though that the battery is guilty and checked reception when the phone is plugged into charger. It did not help. I just dumped my POS iPhone to return back to the 8600. In the year I used it I NEVER dropped a call, always had great reception, and loved the MP3 player. Another reviewer just recently mentioned you cannot play MP3's via bluetooth. Totally incorrect. I have been playing them since I bought the phone over a year ago along with a stereo BT headset.<br /><br />The wired headphone adapter is easy to use, and plugs in quite simplistically. Yes, the iPhone did do better on the ease of MP3 playing, but unlike the 8600, it does NOT support playback over BT.
