Chocolate is Good!

Aug 15, 2006 by captain907

I have had the phone for about 8 days and LOVE it. At first I was leary, being a new product and all, but once again LG has another great phone. Perfect for the folks like myself who have looked at ipods, but really cant justify the need for one. With the chocolate you have the best of both worlds. The only complaint that i have is that the battery does not last as long as i would like, even worse if you use the mp3 player alot. Easy fix with the extended battery.

An amazing phone, Better than iPod.

Shame on Apple for not doing this first but you HAVE to give LG their props for designing an amazing phone. I have this phone now almost a week and the more I get used to it the more I absolutely LOVE this phone. I mean its like theres NOTHING it cant do.

Pros;
Battery life. The battery life on this phone is amazing. Considering the BT, MP3 player, phone, it just never seems to use any battery.

Looks! I have had many comments on this phone. people absolutely love it. It looks like NO other cell phone/mp3 player out there. IMO looks better than the iPod. (By miles)

Screen. The screen has an amazing quality. Totally amazing.

MicroSD slot. With up to 2 gb of memory youll be able to store 400 songs.

Cons;
MP3 transfer is quirky and irratating. I am a Mac user and there is no MacOS option for transfering music. So, like everything Windows its FAR haarder than it has to be!!!

Once you get used to the music transfer you will have no problem getting your favorite songs on the VX8500. This is one amazing phone and IMO it is the best cell/mp3 player you can buy right now by a mile. None of the others come close and anyone hating on this phone is one of two things. 1.) too dumb to realise how great this phone is. Or 2.) Jealous, because they can get one. Seriously this phone is amazing. The heat sensitive buttons are just great too. I just set mine to high sensitivity and it works perfectly for my fingers.

Enjoy. Hope this helps someone go and get one of these amazing phones.

Love the phone!!

Clean look, almost has the feel as your holding an iPod. easy to slide open, Touch sensitive keys are amazing, you can click things so fast. Only downside of it is if your finger slips to the side a little it will accidentally click another button (but you can change the sensitivity settings on it). You have to click a side key to unlock the phone which I find to be very useful when it is in your pocket.

Text messaging works amazing, only feature I wish it had was a memory settings so that you don't have to switch from ABC to Word every time you send a text.

Music plays great, it is actually quite loud (Surprising). The phone has friezed on me once or twice when I was listening to music and tried to switch songs...virtual memory overload. I had to take the battery out for it to do anything. Other then that the phone is perfect!!

GREAT PICTURE QUALITY, at least viewing uploaded pictures. I have not really taken too many pictures or videos on it yet.

I charge my battery every 2-3 days and it works great and on the end of those days I still have 1-2 out of 4 bars of battery left :-D and I text a lot!

Here is what I love about this phone. That little pocket on your jeans that no one really put anything in, well guess what...this phone fits PERFECTLY in there...I MEAN PERFECTLY!!

Everyone Loves Chocolate!!

Gotta love this cool cell! I had my chocoloate for about a year now. I had the one witout speaker phone..but you can trade it in for one with speaker phone if you'd like. Me and my 3 friends decided to get chocolates; we got the green, pink, and black one. I got the black.

Pro's
-fashionable(for the ones who care)
-the sound quality is amazing for music, calls, everything!
-looks really cool
-battery is great on standby
-never gets dull and boring. I ike to change cell phones a lot to stay in style, but this phone isnt going anywhere.
-comes with bluetooth
-great wall papers available to download
-comes with ok ringtones
-video!! the quality nd length you can shoot for is amazing. I'm a video major, and this phone helps me a lot!!!!!
-loves the way it opens!
-it takes a while to get use to the touch screen..but once you figure out it doesnt work like an ipod, its fun to use.

Cons
-my speaker phone is horrible
-way too easy to get finger prints and scratches
-doesnt hold a lot of music w/o a card
-if you like to talk alot, but a spare battery...you'll need it.
-doesnt come with speakers
-doesnt come with games
-my pictures come out burry (ive had the phone for only a year)
-easy to break the charger input (the thing you plug the charger into breaks easily)
-takes a while to earn how to use the touch screen....set it on the most sensitive setting.

Great phone!

I really have nothing more to say than this: This phone is a great one! The touch-sensitive front is wonderful, and worked (for me) 99% of the time. The built-in MP3 player works well, and I'm very pleased with the phone!

Chocolate melted

I have never taken care of a phone as much as I've taken care of my mint chocolate and yet after only 7 months of very limited use, the phone is basically useless.

Whenever I slide the phone on, to activate it the phone automatically dials the first phone number on my call log.

The phone also sends text messages before I'm actually done typing the message.

The other night I tried calling my own phone because I misplaced it, instead of ringing, it acted as a microphone and gave me an echo of what I was saying on my land line...strange!

Do not buy this phone. Maybe the newer version will be better.

do not get this phone

omg i had this phone for 3 months and in those 3 months i had to warrenty it 3 times. finally i said screw it and went and got the new lg 8300. the 8300 is the 8500 but 10 times better. the touch pad stop working on all three phones, plus the phones battery would last an hour after being taken off the charger (it was fully charged)

This is a pretty good phone, but it has its downsides.

Pros
Good Battery
micro sd slot
media player
speakerphone
unique touch buttons
ringers are pretty loud

Cons
touch buttons are hard to use/get used to
bad reception on VZW in No. VA/DC area.
scratches easily
vcast is a ripoff

Great Phone.....

Jul 19, 2007 by originalspacerob

I got this phone about a month ago with my new every 2 through Verizon. So I walked out of the store with two phones and only had to pay $30 for the music essentials kit. Before this phone I had a VX5200 and was pleased with it even though it was a simple phone. Going from that to the features on this were amazing.

Pros:
-great call reception. Better than my old 5200 with an antenna. No dropped calls yet
-Music player works great and better than carrying a ipod and phone. Sound quality is awesome
- menus are easy to navigate and the same as most LG phones. With the exception of the new Jazz and Rock graphic ones.
-Screen is nice and clear with good resolution.
-really like the slide feature.
-comfortable in pocket. (hate belt clips and cases)
-Excellent camera quality. Better pictures in low light than my Sony digital camera.
-excellent battery life:
examples:
6 hours of non stop music, searching for service with two bars displayed. A few phone calls. And I still have two battery bars when I go to sleep. Not bad considering most ipods only get 8-12 hours just playing music.

Cons:
-touch screen takes a bit to get used to.
-screen finger prints and slight scratches (normal things for most phones)

Neat feature:
They don't tell you this but you can convert your DVD's and homes mpegs movies to play on the phone. All you need is a converter program to resize the video and put it in 3GPP2 format and load it into your flix folder on your SD card and you can play it. If you get the resolution too high the movie plays slow. So far I have watched two movies on the phone. A typical movie takes 150 MB. Switch to wide screen and hold the phone sideways for a better view. Battery life on movie playback is about two bars from full charge after the movie finishes. This is while searching for service too.

Overall Extremely happy so far with this phone.

THE WORST PHONE EVER!!!!

Jul 17, 2007 by elemons17

First of all, I like the colors and the clarity of ringtones. I hate the signal you receice, I have had this phone since december 06 and it is now July and Im on my 4th (good thing for a one year warranty). The screen has messed up once, I dont receive my phone calls 25% of the time.
