Bummed

Mar 12, 2006 by cjuniverse

Just found out today the memory's unexpandable.

This really disappoints me...as I only bought this phone to avoid buying an MP3 player/walkman.

Not a techie, but here's my general take:

Pros -

Cool design (I like the loop, orange plate and swivel)
Colorful interface/good size
Speaker phone answer without opening
Radio feature (best thing this phone has going for it in my opinion)
Easy to use/learn (and as I said I'm no techie)
Good volume/reception (SoCal area 90630...though it has dropped calls, I believe that's more due to service in my area than the phone itself)
MP3 ringtone option
Fairly hi res camera (though mine doesn't work properly...not an issue as I plan to buy an 8.1 meg next month)
I actually like that it's a bit heavier/more bulky...seems more durable.
Dig the flat keys and orange backlight
Great battery life

Cons -

Insufficient memory...yes, it's a phone, but dang it I *don't* want to have to buy a separate MP3 player...I'm cheap like that. :)

Not a fan of the opening tone...no tone would be preferable.

The earphone/buds are awful, awful, awful. I have constant ear infections and these irritate...plus, they refuse to stay put. Worst feature by far!

unclefesters phone

I have only had the phone for a few days now, and I must say i am pretty happy with it. It looks kinda cool, and is different from most ordinary phones, meaning it does not flip. The orange cover I am still getting used to. Well here are my pros and cons:
pros: Speaker phone that is loud enough anyone can hear, ringer is loud, pictures, video, and the best one is mp3 player and radio.
cons: The only thing I could complain about is no expandable memory. However right now I have around 40 songs and only used up about half of it. I do not have any pictures and about 120 contacts.

Slow interface

This phone does not have a good camera, has slow navigation and is slow in sending picture messages.

very impressive phone with bells and whistles

I got this from Cingular for $199 ($100 rebate). My decision was between this and the Nokia 6102. I liked the reviews on both and a friend has the Nokia and I like it. However, I am a gadget type of person and I like to play with new "toys", so I got the Sony. I've had Motorolas and Nokias, but this is my first Sony Ericsson and I am very pleased.

This is a PHONE with mp3 and camera FEATURES. This is NOT an mp3 player or a camera that happens to have a phone option. 256mb is plenty of space for a good selection of songs you would like to keep with you...I dont think it was ever intended to hold your entire mp3 collection! The sound quality on the headset is very good and the external speaker is clear.

As a phone, I have had strong reception (southeast USA) everywhere I've been so far. Coming from a Motorola, I LOVE the loud earpiece, FINALLY!
I installed the software and moved music and pictures from my pc to my phone and selected one as my ringtone, very simple :)

READ the manual, explore the menus, some things people complain about are options you can turn on.

Pros:
- LOUD ear piece
- LOUD ringtones
- Included software and usb cable for transfer of pictures and ringtones (no need to buy ringtones over the internet)
- so many connection options... bluetooth, IR, usb
- nice camera quality (remember this is a PHONE)
- interchangeable faceplates
- everything from chat (aol), web, to streaming television depending on the media package you have
- easy menu navigation
- can answer/use the phone without opening it
- great reception, call quality
- charges with USB connection
- good battery life
- feels solid

Cons:
These aren't really cons, more like "things I would have liked", but in no way do these things make the Sony w600i bad!
- standard headset jack would be nice
- takes getting use to when it is open (feels kinda of upside down at first, but you get use to it)
- a lens cover for the camera would be useful
- all games are demos

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

no such thing as "the best"

Feb 27, 2006 by temp2006

Pros:
great sound for music
good pictures
silent mode

Cons:
can't lock main icons (like the internet, phonebook, settings)
can't hear well when speaking to others
downloading takes forever (couple of min's.)
Instruction book sucks, bad description for features on phone.

My phones makes a popping noise then shuts off by its self. Sony Ericsson could have done better with the instructions and lock system. getting charge for internet usage is not cool.

bad build phone

Jan 11, 2006 by xupa

a great design but full of flaws, this is my third model in one mouth(yeah 3 replaces), usb malfunction, hungs up in java aplications, the white screen problem,, etc... and today... i cant get to power up this BAD BUILD phone, so this will be my last sonyericsson, im gonna change it for a motorola or something, my sincere advice stay away from this phone, cute but...silly!!

JUNK!!

OK......Sony Ericcson flunked on this one!!

We carry this phone and I don't recommend this phone at all!! The only way I sell the w600i is if someone asks for it and will not heed my warnings...

I think there is just too much on this phone and we have major issues with reception because of this.

It was a nice concept and it is a nice "gadget" but everytime we sell this phone; it comes back!!

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!

The W600i is the worst phone Ive had!! I have had to replace it through warranty 4 times and every single one has completely turned off and wont start up again. The phone will be in perfect condition and wont do anything!!!

I liked it....now I don't

When I first got the phone it was great. I liked finding all the cool things it did...... I have had it for 2 months and have had to return it twice. Due to the fact the screen went white and I couldn't do anything...

Pros:
I like being able to download my own music
speakers are out of this world
i like the swivel and the color
the video and camera are cool during the day

Cons:
not enough memory and no extra can be put in
gets slow at times
key pad is hard to use sometimes
camera/video not good at night

if you want this phone its cool but not for business!
