My fiance just bought me this phone today... I was using a Blackberry Curve but I love this phone because it is very customize-able and trendy.
Things I love:
Bright screen
the touch of the buttons on both the bar and the QWERTY
default ringtones and wallpapers are nice
speedy
nice size
I loved using the BB Curve, and even though I might have "downgraded" from the smartphone, I still find the Banter very useable and fun. If only it had the internet, my fiance would have gotten one too because he loves everything about it as well... but he claims he needs internet :)

At first when I was about to get the first, I remember the bad reviews, but this phone rocks. Although, if you have a rumor one, the rumor two is not a must have unless you want a bigger screen. people say the Rant is better and I agree but the looks are much the same
Pros:
big/nice screen
awesome qwerty keypad
ok camera
good battery time
vibrates, rings and now flashing light on top
Cons:
uh...um...hmm...uh...well...I got nothing

Just got the phone today. So far my girlfriend has enjoyed it (she used to own the scoop) thought this phone already is much faster and does not freeze up like the scoop. That is why LG does not want this phone called the Scoop 2. No association.
One thing I like as someone who works in the industry is the mobile email upgrade that is free. With Alltel you can get a Connect Pack 1 (9.99) monthly that will give you unlimited email and data minutes to check the emails. Its nice not having to pay a smartphone price for a phone that can to emailing.

Anyone who has used the original rumor or scoop knows that the phones are glitchy, slow, media messaging never works correctly. they fail all the time and are a severly dated looking design. In reality there is No need for more than a 1.3 mp camera on a phone I daily post pics to myspace from my 3.2 storm and my standard phone 1.3 and quite often the 1.3mp photos look better. If you are a photographer by profession or need a super camera, get one! The new scoop or Banter as it is called on Alltel is FAST!!! this is more than u can say for the old model. the menues work seamlessly the camera take pics fast! The speaker on it is also VERY good. Its loud and clear which is more than u can say for alot of phones out there. The phone also allows for custom face plates etc. Its a really nice phone especially for the price range and alltel is running Buy one get one free on them atm. Boom! I hate people that try to write reviews about phones that either have not used the phone or for that matter even seen one in person. I sell them all the time. people love them. I would highly reccomend this phone to anyone who wants a good phone that texts does media and has a full qwerty keybord. Saying this phone is the same as the old rumor or scoop is like saying that Camaro and a Cavalier are the same car cause they both run on 87 octane!!! Now go buy this phone, preferably on alltel cause sprint is icky pEW pEW!!!

My LG Rumor is broken after less than a month. I woke up one day and it was sitting on the counter with a broken screen. My old phone was dropped down the metal back stairs onto the asphalt parking lot, and after I picked up the pieces and put the battery back in/cover back on, it was fine. This phone evidently can break from being set down hard.
Pros: Qwerty keyboard. Good for texting.
Cons: Poor quality/durability. Not suitable for any active person. Also, calls sometimes fade out and you can barely hear the person on the other end.
Summary: Don't waste your money. I was happier with my 5 year old flip phone.

I love my rumor 2.
Pros:
very comfortable keyboard
good camera
very good reception
battery life (i even text over 400 times a day)
Ringtone volume
Cons:
No 3G
I find it weird that everyone that has this phone but its named anything other than the rumor 2 is complaining about it.... get this phone with either virgin mobile or sprint and it will work fine.

I have the Sprint version of this phone.. So far its okay, its not the best but its ok..
PRO:
Amazing Signal - Probably not a phone thing, but its on Sprint's network that gets amazing coverage where I live.
Size - Over all I like the size and shape of the phone, I"m not into the little phones anymore(I went thru the whole razr craze)
Keyboard is great to text on.
Screen is good size.
CON:
Buttons on the outside are small, but you get used to them..
Predictive Text! I hate how you can't have predictive on the front and normal on the keyboard, i hate the predictive on the keyboard.. ugh.. anyone know how to change that?
Camera.. No Video: I wish it had video... and camera isn't great.
Battery.. sucks. I have to charge mine about every 10 to 12 hours of normal use.
There's a delay sometimes.. sorta sluggish
Over all its a decent phone, but i believe you could get better..

I have the script 265 and loath it. I have used it for well over a month. Most of the positive reviews sound like people who work for the wireless. The script is the exact opposite of a smart phone - a stupid phone.
the only PROs
the keyboard
the chat feature
CONs
1. what good is a clear screen if it doesn't support video? No video.
2. Small things like you can't cut-n-paste text messages or calendar events
3. you can't edit a sent text and resend it.
4. you can't copy/move an event to another day so for recurring events that don't fall on the same day of the week you have to manully add them ... one by one
5. no support for apps
6. no support for games
7. no support for j2me .... no midlets.. no java...
8. the phone is just as thick(or thicker) as a blackberry and almost just as wide.
9. can't browse file structure and it doesn't support sub directories so if you have songs on you card in folders, not only will you not be able to see or play them, it deleted mine.
10. battery life is mediocre at best. My nokia 6085 would last twice as long.
11. haven't found a way to interface with the phone except as a usb storage.
12. it has notepad with no integration. No to-do list, no way send the notes to anybody else or to the calendar. And you can't create an even from a text.
I could go on, but you get the idea. Sound quality is ok and if all you expect to do is make a simple call and make a simple text, i guess it'll do. If you expect anything beyond that, this is the worst phone you could pick. It's the worst phone I've had since 2000 and a severe downgrade from my old nokia.
