Decent phone with numerous drawbacks

Apr 27, 2009 by mb001

Pros:

1. Good reception, great sound quality.

2. Nice loud speakerphone.

3. Buttons on keyboard are large and far apart, waaay easier to text/email accurately on than a Blackberry.

Cons:

1. Bigger, heavier and especially *thicker* than you probably expect. Not a comfortable shirt pocket phone. Barely ok as a front pants pocket phone, but you're not going to forget it's there, that's for sure.

2. Otherwise excellent keyboard has no return key! WTF?!

3. Accessing email or IM requires sliding open the keyboard, even if you're not going to use it and just want to read messages. Bye-bye quick one-handed email checking.

4. Themes are limited to two, both of which are kind of ugly.

5. Factory ringtones are seriously lame, and adding your own requires purchasing and installing a memory card first.

Overall, decent phone for someone who keeps it in a bag or purse and talks on a Bluetooth headset most of the time, and who texts and/or emails mainly when sitting down. Less good for someone who doesn't carry a bag or needs to check text/email on the go.

ok...The good and bad

I'm have service with Cricket in Phx, az. I had the samsung basic flip, and while it worked great and stuck out with me for a couple yrs, it was time for a new phn. It doesnt come with the card, but its only 14 bucks...in AZ anyway. It has pretty good service thru the ear piece, The bluetooth works great. There are no built in games. The phone haa a lot of bugs and freezes up all the time...that was one thing I hated. There's no email client but who cares, thats what a lap top is for. The slip where the card incert is pretty easy, unlike my hint which is what I have. I couldnt even find the navigation but thats what a garmin is for. I like that I can use my music as ringtones, it saves money. What I really like about the samsung 450 is that it had the music player, and a slot for me to put in my card, and at the time that was my first music phn experience. However, the music does not play clear and it is very fuzzy, it was enbarrassing to play it in public even. The Keyboard wrks great, and even now I miss that phn because of the large numbers and letters. The battery life was very good, it lasted for days. The camera screen was nice and large and the camera took great pics. Overall though this is a very good phn, it has no video capture but i loved it. The only reason I dnt have it is because my BF smashed my phn, during one of his anger tantrums, buts it never drops calls. Its really heavy and it would never fit in your pocket, but it was the best phn i ever had, unfortunately, it discontinued with cricket so...:-/

Pros:
large screen,
keyboard buttons are large,
can use mp3 music as ringtones,
good battery life

Cons:
The MP3 player plays music terrible, too much static.
phone is heavy
does not come with usb cord or headphns,
you have to exit the music player to do anything,
pics take forever to load,
phn is slow and freezes, a lot of bugs,

For a phn that cost me 220 dollars, its pretty much worth the money.
