What I really hate, is when I pick up the phone to make a call, I always hit the camera button and activate the camera. I'm going to try to disable that button with some glue. One of the greatest of the great. I would put this over a phone with smart phone features any day. I think this deserves a 4.8 rating actually but that option isn't available<br /><br /> Pros<br />Very Durable- I've dropped this phone at least ten times a day, its been in the toilet, and through everything else possible. It still works almost perfectly!<br /><br />Battery- Before my phone took a nose dive in the toilet it had a great battery, for me. I text pretty much every five minutes so my battery lasts around two days. I definitely found out what would happen if you put it in water and i reallllllyyyy regret it. <br /><br />PROS: Awesome for texting, nice QWERTY keyboard, fast for texting, T9 worked very well, the speaker phone was loud &amp; clear, I got service in places where you wouldn't think were possible, nice design, themes were awesome and thats about it. <br /><br />CONS: small screen, slow internet, slow sometimes when you are doing a lot of texting, it only came in two colors (Blue &amp; Green) ringtones couldn't be set to certain people, couldnt send anything from the SD card, buttons got kind of non responsive after awhile, the slider was wobbly and a case mad it worse, dirt would get in the tracks on the slider and make a gritty grinding noise, it wouldn't send messages sometimes and I would have to cut it off for it to work, and thats about it for this.<br /><br />If they still have this phone for any other company (Straight Talk) then i would totally get it. I bought one for my daughter for Christmas through Straight Talk at Walmart for $99 and she loves it. It seams to be similar to the Samsung R450 but I'm not exactly sure what the difference is. Ours has a full slide out qwerty keypad which she says makes texting so much easier. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera, mp3 player, bluetooth (unrestricted), microSD memory slot, voice dialing, speakerphone, web browser, voice recorder and the standard suite of organizational tools.<br /><br />The phone is black and shiny and could get fingerprints which may bother some people but it doesn't bother us. It is very bulky and rather heavy but not too much to worry anyone. It's just a bit bulkier than the ultra thin and light smartphones. The size is of course due to the slideout keypad which is nice and sturdy, it slides smoothly and clicks into place in both directions.<br /><br />The signal strength is strong which is probably because Straight Talk is on Verizon's network nationwide which has good coverage. If you do the math, I've had it for a year. [It's currently November 2009]<br /><br />I'm an on-the-go kind of person. Not much of a phone-talker, but when I am, boy, am I ever. I can be on a call for HOURS on end. I'm a compulsive texter. I check my e-mail constantly. And I mean, like, every 30 minutes. I'm also a Facebook addict, so I'd constantly be online. To top it all off, the alarm and agenda/calendar dictated my day-to-day activities. Suffice to say, my phone had become somewhat of a bible to me.<br /><br />With that said:<br /><br />Pros:<br />- Great internet service.<br />- Texting was fast and easy [also, deleting inbox and outbox was a breeze].<br />- Battery life is average - lasts even longer if you shut off the backlights.<br />- Great camera quality.<br />- Great memory.<br />- Can create/save text words.<br />- Dropping the phone a thousand times won't break it [personal experience].<br />- Great reception.<br />- Receives texts/picture message/and audio messages INSTANTLY.<br />- The space for ringtones is INSANE. I have yet to reach a limit! And I've had the phone for a YEAR. [I download A LOT].<br /><br />Cons:<br />- Thicker-than-usual phone.<br />- Space button on the keyboard has to be pressed down on hard (occasionally) to work.<br />- Screen and buttons are fragile. But just take good care of it, you should be fine.<br />- No videos.<br />- Will turn off randomly - rarely, though.<br />- Inbox/Outbox space is 70/30. [That's very little for an avid texter]<br /><br />All in all, I loved that phone with all my heart. It was great. The screen ended up breaking because my [overweight male] cousin cracked it by [repeatedly] stomping on it with all his might. I nearly killed him. That phone survived it all: for a YEAR. Except that. Which would?! No regrets. I had the samsung basic flip, and while it worked great and stuck out with me for a couple yrs, it was time for a new phn. It doesnt come with the card, but its only 14 bucks...in AZ anyway. It has pretty good service thru the ear piece, The bluetooth works great. There are no built in games. The phone haa a lot of bugs and freezes up all the time...that was one thing I hated. There's no email client but who cares, thats what a lap top is for. The slip where the card incert is pretty easy, unlike my hint which is what I have. I couldnt even find the navigation but thats what a garmin is for. I like that I can use my music as ringtones, it saves money. What I really like about the samsung 450 is that it had the music player, and a slot for me to put in my card, and at the time that was my first music phn experience. However, the music does not play clear and it is very fuzzy, it was enbarrassing to play it in public even. The Keyboard wrks great, and even now I miss that phn because of the large numbers and letters. The battery life was very good, it lasted for days. The camera screen was nice and large and the camera took great pics. Overall though this is a very good phn, it has no video capture but i loved it. The only reason I dnt have it is because my BF smashed my phn, during one of his anger tantrums, buts it never drops calls. The range on the bluetooth is soooo bad that I have to hold the phone in front of me so that I get a clear signal to my earpiece. <br /><br />The hardware will handle these functions. Bigger, heavier and especially *thicker* than you probably expect. Not a comfortable shirt pocket phone. Barely ok as a front pants pocket phone, but you're not going to forget it's there, that's for sure.<br /><br />2. Otherwise excellent keyboard has no return key! WTF?!<br /><br />3. Accessing email or IM requires sliding open the keyboard, even if you're not going to use it and just want to read messages. Bye-bye quick one-handed email checking.<br /><br />4. Themes are limited to two, both of which are kind of ugly.<br /><br />5. I get mostly good feedback from it. The only issues I generally receive are that when the phone isn't turned off in about 3 days the phone turns itself off and on again. <br />With Metro PCS most of the phones aren't very good quality but this one works very well, and rarely has any issues occur.<br />I also get very good reception on the phone, almost always have at least three bars. <br />The battery life isn't too bad for me.
