OKish...

Feb 15, 2010 by littledudette154

This is a great phone for your son/daughter's first phone, if you just want them to have something in case of an emergency.
pro's:
- Large keys
- Large,easy to read screen
- Large, easy to read text
- great service
- long lasting battery( i can go 2 days without charging it)
- camera, i guess is OK.... Could be better
- I've had it for about a year and I've dropped it more than my fair share of times, but i haven't needed to replace it
con's
- takes FOREVER to send a text.
- really slow
- cant download ringtones
- cant put pictures on computer
- doesn't take very good pictures
- scratches easily
- inbox only holds 50 texts
and outbox holds 25

I didn't really like this phone at all.

HORRIBLE PHONE!

Jan 29, 2010 by Owenu

Do not buy this phone! I don't know why Cricket is still selling this phone. It is crap! It's refurbished, and I have had several replacements before I got one that would actually work! It shuts off by itself, it freezes, text wont send, won't charge sometimes, and so on. I got one now that somewhat works, but still does it's own thing.

If you are lucky enough to get a working U-340, it's an okay phone. It takes nice quality pictures for a refurb. When you dial the numbers, they are large enough to see. It has nice qualities for a basic phone, but the hassle of getting replacement after replacement makes the low price not worth it.

I know times are hard, but if you can afford it, spend the extra money to get a better phone than the Samsung U-340.

I Hate This Phone

This was a free phone through Verizon. And in the first six months I've had it I've replaced the handset three times. It would drain battery life within 12 hours of charging completely. But I will give credit to Verizon's customer service people. They are very good.

The battery is also not very good. I don't make many calls, but if I take or make a call it seems like I lose a bar just on that one call.

The photos are brutal too. Of course, I don't expect pro quality photos from a cell phone. But the pics are not very good. There is also no flash in the camera either. Also, the camera will take pictures while the phone is in my pants pocket. For me that is very annoying.

Texting is also a pain in the butt. Very cumbersome to say the least. It takes about three minutes to send a text of 50-60 characters.

Right now Verizon is offering a deal where you can upgrade your phone for a discounted price. I hate this phone so much that I will do that very soon.

Pros: (Believe it or not I do see a couple of positives). It is a good basic phone. That's it.

Decent reception, even in a parking garage.

Cons:

Poor battery life

Poor workmanship

Camera takes pictures while in your pants pocket

Texting takes forever

Picture quality not very good

No flash for camera

No games built into phone

Can't feel vibrate

Have had grandpa also has this

My grandpa had cingular (motorola v551, then the c139) just basically needed a simple phone and he didn't like cingulars service (just needed an emergency phone and Cingular AT&T) was not doing good in his area, so we switched his network to Verizon and he got this.

One thing I noticed (since I personally owned one) is that the phone has updated firmware from the last time, it seemed my phone said like verizon at the top and his doesnt and has samsung, They looked the same, so I know I am not getting the model wrong.

Really solid feeling, I think the camera is 1.3 or might be VGA but still takes good pictures and was one that was the free if you sign up to the new contract for 19.99, good if you need basic.

Dissapointing

Sep 4, 2008 by Keithdude5

This phone is severely disappointing. I was at school when my parents decided to surprise me with a cell phone. The verizon wireless store saw that my mother didn't know much about cell phones and cheated her. They did not tell her that it couldn't record video sound or even receive video texts.

Pros
It was free

Cons
Glitches. Sometimes my space button acts as a send button.

No sounds recording
No video recording
Terrible sound quality can hardly hear anyone and they can hardly hear me.
Terrible Speaker phone
I miss calls when on vibrate in my pocket it is so low.
Bad battery life.
Very long load times

I do not suggest this phone even as a beginners phone. It will cause you much stress.
