Its ok cuz it was free but...

May 18, 2008 by karma.hasana13

Ok, i am a lover of LG phones and had the V, EnV and would absolutely love the Voyager or EnV 2, but finances are a problem for those right now. My EnV was on loan and the V was water damaged when i got it and was on borrowed time so i cant complain when it finally sputtered to a stop. So since it died and my loaned EnV had to be returned to its owner, I had to get a phone from somewhere. So i got the cheapest phone I could (which was free) and it was the Samsung SCH-U340. I like the phone ok but it was hard to text after using a QWERTY keyboard. So here are my pros and cons.

Pros:
-Light and small
-Holds a charge for a day atleast(some phones don't)
-Nice internal display
-Decent T9 dictionary
-3 alarms
-Loud ringer
-Good vibrate

Cons:
-No color external display
-Rather crappy camera
-Speaker phone is too quiet
-VERY VERY slower, has horrible lags(compared to the LGs I have used)
-Can not do video backgrounds(not a biggie, just missed from my LG)
-Crappy ringers
-its rather picky and choosy about what picture messages it does and doesn't want to receive.

Other than that, theres not much, I'm sure there are other things i could mention but this is off the top of my head.

I'm not 100% satisfied

I've had this phone for a little over a year and I must say, it's horrible. The camera is awful and the texting on it nothing to desire.

Pros: Sleek, easy to use

Cons:Horrible for texting, camera is awful, no voice recorder, no camcorder, and the mobile instant messenger is horrid

I only suggest this phone to people who are not big on texting and are maybe not so up to date on the latest software. Pretty much I should tell you to not get this phone. I'm getting the new chocolate, much better choice I hope!

Do not buy this phone

Honestly I do not like this phone. I'm used to more expensive phones and when I switched to Verizon I just got this phone because it was free. For a free phone it works alright, but it is really slow when texting and the phone has a huge delay. Also, it tends to freeze up and blank out while in use. Lastly, the battery life is terrible. I've owned this phone a full week and the battery does not even last a full day.

Nice Little Phone for Verizon Wireless

I have had this phone for about a couple of weeks now and I have to say, I really like it.

Pros:
- Great reception
- Small, sleek style (I personally really like the blue color)
- Decent camera
- Seems very durable (Feels nice and sturdy in the hand, not cheap and flimsy like some other phones I've had)
- Simple to use

Cons:
- Battery life is a little short but I do have a car charger so it's not a huge issue for me.

If you are looking for a simple phone without all the bells and whistles, then I would definitely recommend this phone.

Uugghh!

Pros:
Easy to use
Tiny & cute
Simple
Affordable

Cons:
I've had this phone for 10 days. I've had the cell store replace my battery already, and the replacement is also not keeping a charge! Less than 1 hour talk time on both batteries, fully charged.

Verizon in Ohio-No reception issues.

Conclusion--I exchanging this phone for something more expensive but hopefully better quality ASAP!!!!!!! Hope I find some ggod reviews here to help.....

This thing sucks

Got two of these a week or two ago with new Verizon service. Reception drops in and out, the speaker phone is more of a whisper phone, and text messaging is painful. My girlfriends phone will hold a charge for maybe half a day before dying, and thats if she doesn't make any calls.

The vibrate is a joke. I've had it in my pocket and missed the call, because I couldn't feel the vibration.

And while I wasn't expecting a top notch camera on it, I was hoping for something that would be better than the web cam I bought in 2000.

Yeah, they're free with Verizon, and really really cheap on Alltel, but I honestly think thats because they're trying to get rid of them ASAP.

Hopefully a dud??

Since this is a new phone in VZW’s line up I hope my 1st one was a fluke. Mine had one major problem…no one could hear me on it, even VZW tech support.
So I’m waiting for my 2nd one and we’ll see.
I’m giving it a 2nd chance because I liked the following;
Size
Internal antenna
Very basic phone
Speakerphone
Good earpiece volume (the speaker & earpiece are one in the same)
Tri mode
In case of emergency contact list

What I didn’t like;
You will feel the vibrate feature but you won’t hear it if it’s set on a desk, table, counter, night stand, etc
Obvious defect leaving me without for now.

Sorely Disappointed

Its got a nice screen for a base model phone, which was the selling point for me. Dumb me didn't carry phone insurance and had to buy one of Alltel's cheapest phones, this is what I ended up with. It's painfully slow in just about every aspect of its existence, which makes me want to snap it every time I type a text, or accidentally hit down and open the web browser. Maybe this is why they call the the Alltel Snap?

Pro's:
Big Screen
Strong Vibrate*

* Contrary to what everyone else says, it does have a strong vibrate, at least on mine. I sounds like a bee and moves a few inches if its laying on a table.

Con's:
Everything about it minus the screen and vibrate!

Good phone, USC has it now...

Overall: A great phone in a relatively small and inexpensive package.

Pros:
1. Simple to use
2. Good sound quality on the US Cellular network
3. Voice recognition that actually works
4. relatively good camera for a basic phone
5. Thin (easy to put in your pocket or holster)

Cons:
1. Thin (Almost as thin as a Motorola KRZR K1 or RAZR V3)- though much easier to dial, therefore I can't deduct points for that
2. A little on the slow side- takes about 30 Sec. to turn on (I've looked at a very popular "e-mail device" that is just as slow, and chose this phone instead)
3.No Bluetooth (though that can't hurt the rating one bit in this category)
