Awesome

Sep 26, 2002 by AJ MAIN

I work for an agent of Verizon, needless to say I have owned a countless amount of phones. This phone tops the list of CDMA phones. It could be that I prefer Motorola over anything else, but it honestly blows all phones out of the water.
True the battery life is not the longest, but i am sure that Mot. will be coming out w/something to help that matter. The apps in the "Go Get It" are a bit limited, but that is still a fairly new application for VZW, I am sure that there will be more coming. And for those who are crying that they have to pay for apps. Dry your eye, we all know nothing in this world is free, and it goes to your bill. No credit hassles.
As far as performance, it has the clearest sound I have heard in a phone. The display is amazingly bright. Menus are basic and easy to use. Signal strength is very good,(after all it is a Verizon phone.) And as others have said, get it fast I am sure it will be sold out.

Overall all I can say is "GO GET THIS PHONE!"

The best phone I've ever had

Sep 26, 2002 by Michael

My previous phone was the V60 for Verizon, I really liked that phone...But the 720 is astounding! Once you view the color screen, using a phone with a monochrome screen is a step back.

Reception is great. The only complaints about the phone is the battery, which i'm sure Motorola will come out with a higher capacity battery, the current battery doesn't last as long as on a phone with a mono display, but that goes without saying. Another drawback is the outer shell, I wish it was aluminum like the V60 and maybe a metal shell will become available...I can only hope.

All in all Motorola got it right with this phone.

Very Disappointing

Was excited about this phone until I got it home. Nothing but problems. Very low earpiece volume makes this phone impossible to hear in most outdoor environments. Phone constantly has an echo sound and everyone that I talk to says I sound terrible. Worst of all Motorola denies that any of these problems exist. This is my 3rd exchange so I did not just have 1 bad phone. This phone also has many software glitches. Avoid this phone!

Colorful Junk!

T720 is the worst phone I have had. It has several positive features but not enough to out weigh the negatives.

Battery life is miserable even for color phone standards. Once you hit the battery low warning there is no making a call even if the phone is plugged in. Keystroke response time is very slow. The average user will out tap the processor making the quick keys a must.

The phone is some what customizealbe and the interface is easy to use. The Verizon defaults are not nearly as usable as the factory defaults. It is easy to program.

Personally I'm thinking of switching to the Audiovox (Toshiba) 9500 and eating the cost just to get a decent phone. It's that bad.

Much better color phones to come than this

This phone isn't worth it if you are looking to get a new phone...Moto already has came out with 2 new s/w versions...At this pace they need many more..Garunteed you'll be using the 1 year warranty to its max on this phone..Get the Audiovox 9500 or Lg 4400..By far better phones all around.

Motorola T720 text-messaging gripe!!

Dec 6, 2002 by Jonathan Rogers

The one thing that annoys me with the Motorola T720 is the fact that I can be typing a text message and then all of a sudden it exits WITHOUT saving to drafts and returns to the home screen. Now, what is that about?? I know it's a software flaw because I've had the 19c SW version and have just had my phone flashed to the 19D version. Still happening. Would it be because I'm a "skilled at SMS" with almost having their T9 dictionary memorized down to a science. What I mean by that is I know what words the T9 recognizes and what slang I have to input in manually. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Great phone but differ from first impression

This is the best phone I have so far. Most of the aspect of the phone has been discussed before, so I'll talk about the less obvious. First of all, it's obvious that verizon has disabled ALL games in the phone, and you have to buy games/apps using Get It Now service. The phone size is a little bigger than I thought, and yes, the antenna is quite disappointing, espically after I see the picture on phonescoop with that "bullet" type. (Anyone know where can I get that antenna please let me know). There is also no specific alarm clock, however, you can use the Datebook to create a dummy appointment and set the alarm. There is also no build-in pop3 email client, and you have to buy it thru Get It Now too. I am still trying to figure out how to get pictures, animations, and ring tones into the phone. I was thinking I can do all these myself with a PC using the right cable. But it seems verizon will try to prohibit this, and force you to buy it from them. (Hope this isn't the case, and 3rd party cable/software will develop) The phone's menu response is also slow, slowest one of all the phones I've used before, but it's still acceptable. My brother told me disabling the keypad tone will make the response faster, but I don't notice any difference.
Afterall, this is still a great phone, and the very best offered by verizon ever!! There are negative aspects, but the phone is still young, and hope accessories and fixes will come up later.

A good start

Few more pros and cons:
I love how MOT hide their ringer speaker under their logo.
I love the pricing of the phone (in verizon standard, it is way better then Z-800.) But it could be cheaper.
I like the menu…which remind me of Casio A3012CA in Japan.
It is great that MOT make it backward compatible on most of the accessories.
Nice design with "white LED" for keypad/external LED.

I was a little disappointed at few things, the phone's edge (view from the side) is not too well designed, you can see/feel quite a few sharp edges (and they are not really only from design, it is from design/manufacture combo.

The other thing is that based on the picture on phonescoop, I was really impress with the new antenna on this phone (well, until I see the real thing. :P ) The actual antenna is not perfect but definitely better then the design of V.60 or V120.

I did not like the screen that much compare to Samsung SPH-A500, the color seems to be a little washed off. (Might be personal opinion since the other reviewer has reverse opinion. :P)

Personally I prefer the sound of ring ton from Samsungs (A500, A310) better than T720. The sound is more defined/clear compare to T720. But again could it be because Samsung has been working with 16 and/or 40 poly ring ton for years vs. MOT has just started with the MIDI type ringer?

Wish there is a little cover-up piece for the earplug, dust gets in there fairly easily. (But again, I do not see this on most of the MOT phones.)

Over all, this is a great phone on VZW network. The phone is not perfect, leaves room for improvement. But it is a good start (especially after uses of the phones in Japan/Korea.) And I agree with another reviewer - Get this phone quick, it is going to sell like hot cake.

GREAT PHONE

Very good phone!! The reasons why i didn't rate it a 5 because it doesn't have good ring tones. Not very loud! there are very little screen savers, and most of them are bad. Theres no games. other then that the keypad is great, Very easy to use, The phone book is very easy to use and theres 500 thats very good so i can kept alot of my friends on my phone. text messaging is very easy to use too.

T720 stinks

I have owned the Motoralo T720 for a few months now. I have had nothing but problems with it. The signal strengh is no good.It goes from Digtal to analog no matter how many bars there are. It does not ring alot when cals come in.It cost $2 to download ringers. I have verzon wireless.A friend had the v60i phone and it worked better then the t720. The vibrate on the phone you can barely feel unless you have it in your hand or next to your body real close.I am very unhappy with the phone.I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
