narn3049 submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

While this phone operates good, and worked good in 2004 when I used it, but the battery sucked from the start. A fam. member and I got the same phone at the same time, and the battery sucked from the start for both of us.

I cannot give a higher rating because of the result of lost calls and texts, when it worked was when it was connected to the charger. When that was it was great. I got the T270C AGAIN from a friend and it seemed to have a little better of a battery but still sucky. It would be good for durability I suppose, but you will HAVE to do something about that battery

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Jessicakay submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

I have had about. 3 phones sense christmas and I'm coming onto a forth.

I find this phone to suck,
I'm kinda hard on phones I hear. but this phone was very very very fragile, it fell off my table and came up with scratch marks EVERYWHERE! I mean the paint or w\e you call it wore off and everything. My table is only about two feet tall and I had linoleum floors.

also the screen broke, I don't mean like shattered the screen for it broke off like first it was like working and only one part broke and I treated it like an egg and then I was charging it and someone bumped the table and the charger unplugged and went to the floor and it dragged the phone like two inches and the screen just went POP! and came off. I had this phone for about, 4-5 months.

it was very very fragile.

besides the fact it was fragile it was a good phone, but the fragile factor is still a bitch.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

urock111 submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

Hellomoto. Motorola's new catchphrase coined by their marketing department to appeal to the new, modern, chic crowd that is the American teenager. Released in October of 2002, the phone is set to compete with phones like the Sony Ericsson T68i, and Nokia 7210. Motorola has put out a camera-enabled edition, the T720i. While the T720 comes in 3 versions, 2 dual-band GSM, and a CDMA.The Motorola T720 is kind of a fusion between Motorola's old school StarTAC and the popular V60. Motorola, as many of its commercials are demonstrating, is trying to cater to the young, hip crowd offering a slew of features and a large, vibrant color screen.

The T720's slim body is comparable to other small phones out on the market today in terms of both size and weight. Taking a page from most other clamshell phones available, the T720 has an external LCD display which shows the time, battery level, signal strength, and in some cases, caller ID.

Continuing to with what's popular, Motorola added changeable faceplates as well - a nice touch and smart move judging from the popularity that similar Nokia's have garnered. However, the plastic does seem to be a bit light and fragile. I'm really not one to abuse my phones but this phone definitely should be treated with kid gloves. Good looking design but maybe they should have considered going with a lightweight metal instead sacrificing weight for durability. I had this Phone at one time. It was very durable. I enjoyed it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

MonkeyQuyn submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

This was my first color phone, and I loved it! Though yes there are flaws...

Pros -
- Color screen bright!!!
- you can make your own tones (although short) in the pad device!
- Easy to navigate through functions
- Decent Reception
- Good Sound!

Cons -
- Often then enough the phone would completely turn off on me
- No Camera (Which it was shortly updated)
- Phone Froze up quite a bit
- Not really that sturdy
---------
Overall: The reason I purchased this phone was because my original Old School Kyocera broke "accidentally", And of course I had to quickly buy one. I am glad I purchased this phone, It did rescue me!! bwhahaha!!! It was good although unfortunately very outdated by newer phones. Thanks t720!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

drewbot submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I recieved this phone as a gift about a year ago and I absolutely loved it. I have since got a bit greedier and wanted a camera phone.

First of all I am/was using the phone on the Alltel network.

Strong phone. I've dropped this phone numerous times on asphalt which only caused a couple of deep gashes on the removable face plate, but the phone seemed to be working perfectly.

Good signal. I've often been the only student in class with reception within the lower floors of the building, and I can easily get some signal in the wilderness.

External screen. This is one of the most handy features on the phone with the time, date, missed calls, texts, alerts, signal and status.

There are many other good things about the phone, but I just consider them novilies and not necesseties, except the calculator.

Missing OK button. If you are used to a phone that has an ok button, you're screwed. This phone doesn't have an ok button, although it has a smartkey.

Poor internal screen. The internal screen is extremely hard to see in the parking lot on a sunny day, but it also hurts you're eyes to stare at for a long time in the dark.

Slow. This phone is slow and has a bit of lag time for it's menus. This phone will sometimes actually take up to 2 seconds while changing menus on the screen. The start-up time is a bit slow also.

Poor multimedia. Obviously the is no camera, which means this isn't the phone for pictures. It has a couple of sample pictures and a few polyphonic ringtones. There is no multimedia messaging on this phone either. Alltel also, said that the phone is incapable of using it's Axcess apps (They're probably lying.) to download content onto the phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

There is nothing wrong with the carrier(verizon). I recently lost my Samsung A-650 and used the 720 as a backup and it's terrible. The battery life is so low. The screen goes black, it is broken into 2, and its a large phone. I don't recommend buying this phone worth anything. I don't even know about Motorola anymore. I will probably go back to Samsung.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Djonemore submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I bought my T720 off of Ebay, used it for Verizon Wireless for about 5 months, then I lost it.

Pros:
Size: The phone is a nice size, becasuse of the design it will fit well to your face because the phone it self flexes (but still feels strong)

Screen: Screen is huge, it may kill the battery time a bit, but its sure worth it, although its not as vivid as some of the newer phones with the 65k screens, it does the job well.

Ringtones: They sound very good, 40 cord. Most entry level phones out there today only have 16 to 24

Itap: I tap is a good feature if you like txting alot, but I wish you could add words to the phones dictionary.

Voice Dial: Great feature, and it works GREAT, the phone recognizes it almost every time!

Tri Mode: Able to use 1X digital, and Analog as a back up is great!

Menu System: Very easy to navigate, although the menu can be slow at times.

--------------------------
Cons:

Reception: It is not that bad, but other phones are better.

Battery: The battery time was about 2 1/2 days for me even with EXTENDED battery.

Vibrate: Should be stronger.

The phone is a nice phone, good features, but falls short of battery power and reception power (I don't know if the phone has bad reception, all I know is that the bars on the screen move around alot)

Side Note: Many people still have this phone from Verizon, and if your screen saids "D" make sure you take your phone to a verizon wireless store to get it upgraded to "1X" And if you dont like the phone, hope and pray they screw up the update because they will give you a new phone, I wanted a nokia, but they offered to me (3 months ago) a Motorola V265 free of charge.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I ended up having problems with it and returned it for a new one, only to have problems with that one, and the 3rd one I was given after only 2 months from the time I purchased the 1st. The problems were numerous, but some were: phone book listings disappearing, voice dial commands switching to other listings, phone shutting itself off for no reason, just to name a few. I finally got tired of having problems w/ it, and demanded to verizon that they allow me to get a different phone entirely.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Sure, I had to take it to a techician for...uh..."re-programming"...give me a break. My only problems with this phone were with Verizon. I loved the phone, the features, the size, the feel of it. I just hated how nasty the screen got after holding it to my face for like 2 seconds. Hopefully it wasn't just me. I never even considered upgrading to a new phone but something happened. I don't remember. Something having to do with me, a two year-old and some apple juice.

But now I work for Cingular and people bring that phone back all the time with complaints. I haven't met one person who actually liked the phone or didn't have any problems with it. So I guess it sucks. Who knows...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jthomp1286 submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I personally own this phone and use it everyday. I find the interface intuitive and easy to learn to use. The screen is big and vibrant, though some wallpapers may not show up very well on it. The ringtones sound great, the phone is loud but not intrusive. Motorola has done a great job by combining form, ease of use and great features. This phone fits right in your pocket comfortably, in its holster on your belt or anywhere else.

Great phone!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The battery life completly stinks, but the reception is high on the list. It is a good "just making phone call" phone. Voice dialing is fast too.

I personally would not buy this phone mainly due to the battery.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ps205 submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

My T720 for the most part has been a good phone. But, when traveling in, or near San Antonio, it locks onto a Cingular analog tower (I'm an Alltel customer), and won't switch to digital or any other provider even though it works perfectly in any other locale. Alltel has given me three T720s and they all do the same in San Antonio. I have been to upper level technical support with Alltel on three ocassions, and it is presumed by them that there is an anomaly with the T720, Alltel, and the area. No will admit an error, and Alltel will not provide a different phone. All of this is documented with Alltel. If any one has any ideas, please let me know whether you're an individual, or someone with the industry who is bold enough to speak up. I do not appreciate being left hanging by Alltel and Motorola.
Thanks for any help,
ps205

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

smokey submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I've had many different phones in the past 3 years both personal and at work and the Motorola 720 offers an excellent and very user friendly phone as far as I am concerned. My phone receives the signals well. Since I manage a phone program that has about 93 cell phone users, we have different manufacturers throughout our phones involved. I see the Motorola 720 as having a excellent phone performance record and there have been few problems with those using it. It has enough ring styles that came with the phone that I see no need to download any more.
Doesn't bother me that it doesn't have a camera as I want a full functioning phone and not a combination of things that will increase the possibility of something going wrong. There are many accessory options (batteries, web capable, etc) that make it very useful. I had the Motorola V60i before this but I prefer this phone far more. It has good battery life and as far as dropped calls, I don't believe the type or phone manufacturer has any thing to do that issue. I haven't had any with this one and have used it for 5 months. Alltel is my service provider and Verizon is one of their PRLs.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Destin4144 submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Hello to All,

I have had this phone since July of 2003 and I really have enjoyed using it. I am not your typical phone user though. I have text messaged (around 2000 msgs a month), downloaded tons of Get it Now services, and dropped it a few times. Needless to say, this phone has been through the ringer.

Lately (about a month ago), I have had nothing but problems with my phone. The color display bleeds, blacks out, fades, freezes up, and the keypad sticks. I can't make calls, and when people try to call me, I can't answer the call because the phone freezes up!

I took my phone to my friendly Verizon Wireless store for technical service (a.k.a help) and unfortunately, it is discontinued. I couldn't get a new one to replace it. :(

I am going to buy a new (YAY) Samsung cell phone today. I am really going to miss my Motorola T720c as this was the best user friendly phone I have EVER owned in my whole life.

PROS:
1. great interface
2. easy to use - self explanatory
3. external Caller ID display
4. faceplate changeability
5. huge color screen
6. fun wallpaper
7. sexy looking phone

CONS:
1. resolution needs to be sharper
2. battery needs to be charged - daily
3. menu takes up the entire screen; can't see wallpaper picture
4. battery cover needs to be more sturdy
5. NO alarm clock - it would be nice to have one
6. can't hear sometimes
7. shuts off for no reason

I hope this review helps those who are looking at or who have this phone already.

Excuse me while I prepare the memorial service for this phone...

-Jen

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Clark2000 submitted this review of the Motorola T720 (CDMA):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for over two years, so I've had plenty of experience with it.

Pros:
1) It is pretty well built and sturdy.
2) When it was new, the battery life was ok.

Cons:
1) Very short battery life
2) Contact list is terrible
3) Very soft ringer, vibe eats battery
4) Earpiece is difficult to hear
5) Pocket lint collects inside of screen
6) Screen washes out in the sun

I can't even leave the phone on all day, the battery dies too quickly. It used to be I could go 1.5 days without charging.

The contact list is the worst I have ever used. Adding more than one number for the same person results in multiple entries in the phone book. It won't allow you to enter multiple numbers (cell, home, work, etc) for the same contact list entry.

I ALWAYS miss the ringer if I'm in even a slightly noisy environment, even with it turned all the way up. I'm forced to use vibrate, which sucks the battery like you wouldn't believe.

If you fail to position the earpiece right over your ear canal, you pretty much can't hear the conversation. Very precise positioning of the earpiece is required.

After carrying the phone in my pocket for 4 or 5 months, I noticed a film forming on the INSIDE of the inner screen. Yeah. Dust, dirt, and pocket lint get in there and stay. No way to clean it. Makes it very difficult to see the screen.

Inside screen impossible to read in the sun. You have to scurry around to find some shade if you want to see what your phone is doing.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
