Looking Good

Oct 24, 2002 by Jose Irizarry

The phone is easy to use and the display is fantastic. You can change almost anything from the color of the screen, ringer tones, etc. the voice dialing actually pick the right # that you want to call. the only con as of now is that reception sometime is not great but so far not bad enough to make a big difference.

Motorola T720 Doesn't Impress Me--At All

Mar 15, 2004 by maggiesue

I was excited to finally get a "nice" phone after having a simple Nokia phone for the past year. I decided on the Motorola due to its fun features and color screen. The color screen seemed okay at first, but it really doesn't hold true great color--it's kind of drabby. Getting from one area of the phone to a different area is sure to use a bar of battery usage--unnecessary complications. The battery power was quite bad. If I used the phone once or twice during the day for short periods the battery just seemed to drain. Charging the battery took me a good 5-7 hours, why? I really don't know. I don't mean to completely knock the phone--it does have very nice features and is quite stylish. It was fun to have a flip phone and having the capability to have mobile web and all kinds of other goodies was great too. The external caller id panel was very nice since it provided all the information with easy viewing: caller id, battery meter, signal strength, and time. I did run through my trial period with it, but returned it today to try out an Audiovox phone for more than half the price I paid for the Motorola and it has a color screen and many similar features also. Overall it was a nice phone, but not worth the price or hassle it provided me with.

Piece of #%*!

I switched to Verizon from At&T and started out with the t720. I'm on my 3rd refurbished t720, which doesn't work either. Every time I've gone to the Verizon store to have my phone replaced, somebody else is getting a t720 replaced. When I asked a tech if they have a lot of problems with the Moto t720, he said, "No, it's a great phone, I would say only 1 in every 5 or 10 phones has problems". Need I say more?

PROs:

Bells and whistles: color screen, internet access, cool down-loadable games (Tiger Woods Golf is sweet!), VZW has good customer service.

CONs:

The phone itself sucks: No alarm clock, hands-free pieces don't seem to pick up sound very well (people can't hear me when I have my in unless I hold it by my mouth meaning it's not hands-free- I've purchased 3 different hands-free devices), I'm on my 3rd phone in a year- most my problems are with the phone shutting off while charging, the phone not charging, dropping calls, not receiving calls, etc. Also when you get a refurbished phone, you lose the games you paid for, and have to download them again, pay for them again, then call to get reimbursed for what you already paid for before.

The Nokia 8620 was the best phone I've had. I'll go back to a Nokia equivalent with At&T as soon as my Verizon contract is up. Bottom line is I want a phone that works for talking on the phone- the t720 or t730 is not it.

decent phone

I haven't had many problems. The phone has blacked out a few times but I just took the battery out and put it back in and I was all set. For the most part, it seems to be working fine for me...

The phone is Trash....pure TRASH

t720 = junk

Jun 27, 2003 by dave wave

yea u heard me.. this phone is absolutely the worst piece of plastic i have yet to buy in my life.

please dont confuse me with an old ranter.. but i've been upgraded firmwares, and exchanged models with the newer firmwares since verizons 17p.... i had this phone since it came out on shelves for $350. it was by far the worst investment i ever spent.

now in my past experiences with my 3rd t720 (remember: upgrades) in my spare time i.. accidently dropped the phone several times (attenna bent and attenna stub is broken off.. floating around the attenna itself) the phone has tons of chips. the phone has some sort of high pitched yet low volume tone that seems to play seconds before i get a call and when i use the backlight on the outer display.. veryyyyy annoying.

i would go on and on about this phone... but everythings been said. [...]

Horrible

Jun 8, 2003 by Bill Hunnell

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: Battery life is terrible. 2 20 minute calls and the battery is half gone. Battery sometimes will not charge, displays "unavailable to charge" although it is almost dead. Ringers are too soft for most cases. Turns itself off for no reason and will not turn on unless you remove and reinstall the battery. Sometimes turns off if left to charge overnight. Takes almost one minute to power up. Case cracks and makes noise against your ear. Broke 4 times in 3 months. Has little or no signal where other phones work well.

DO NOT BUY

Finally Verizon has allowed me to purchase a different phone. I can't wait to give up this T-720.

phone sucks

The phone worked well for about 3months then the screen went blank, and came back whenever it felt like it. Motorola needs to recall them all. I will never buy a motorola phone again (unless they came up with an improved star)

T720 Sucks!

May 9, 2003 by John Wallace

I have had the phone for a week and am taking it back and exchanging it for another phone tomorrow. The reception is terrible and the sound is awful. I "upgraded" to this from my Startac....I should say DOWNGRADED! Looks like I will go for the Samsung A310 instead...the reviews on that are great compared to this T720! Took the T720 in to a service center and had the software upgraded today, but didn't seem to do any good. Not worth the money, and sure not worth the hassle!

Get this phone!

I have worked in this industry for 4 years. At first look at the phone I was pleased with the weight of the phone and the thinness. The display was crisp (For only having 4096 colors.). The screen is much nicer than the Samsung A500. The menu was laid out nicely, not the normal Motorola feel. The phone has nice ringers with 32 down loadable ringers. I put the phone through its paces and was very pleased. If anyone has any doubts DONT. This phone is well worth the money.
