Low Ringer Volume on XV6600

I just went into my local Verizon store and bought the new XV6600. They activated the phone and then tried to call me but we could not hear the ring tone (it was there but so low that you could bearly hear it.) We tried everything (moved the slider bars for both ringtone and telephone ear piece to their highest position. Nothing helped.
We then tried the one other XV6600 in the store and had the same problem.
The salesman and the manager really tried. They called Technical Support but they were not able to offer any help. I finally had to return the phone and all accessories and get a credit.
Anyone have the same problem and any solutions.

We have the same problem and Audiovox is aware of it. I beleive there is a software update in the works.

I was told by the Verizon Store (after they called Audiovox) that the software Upgrade was a fix for bluetooth only. It makes me feel really funny that I want to go out and spend over $600 for a new phone and then have to fix it before it will work. Am I wrong???

As fast as cell phone builders have to pumpe out phones no days I am not surprised that many phones come with bugs. XP pro is over how many years old now and they still are releasing updates everyday to fix bugs.

Hidden Bugs I can understand but what is the first thing you check on a new phone, voice characteristics (Including acceptable volume on the ear piece) and ringer sound. You call yourself to check and make sure that it works. If you can't hear the sound, you fix it before you sell it. Believe me, I want this phone to work and after they fix it, I will be the first one to run over and buy a VX6600 but I won't buy a phone and then bank on "fixes" that I have to perform before using the phone.

I just got off the phone with Audiovox on the East Coast. As soon as I mentioned that I had a problem with the Audiovox xv6600, the agent said, "Ringer Volume." He told me that it is a fact known by Verizon and Audiovox that there is a problem. He told me that a fix will be available in about 2 weeks. I hope the agent is right about 2 weeks. In the mean time, I have already returned my phone as I am not willing to spend over $600 for a new phone and then have to "fix" it.
