😡

I ordered the wonderfull phone online last Tuesday got it on Friday activated it Saturday.

I was happy ready to try out the much hyped EVDO Network. the ergonomics are great I fell in love...then IT happend I called verizon Monday to get the 45.00 endless buffet of EVDO
so about 10am I spoke to a very friendly rep who added it to my account at lunch I thought I would show my coworkers the awesome blazing speed that I could surf at. then I noticed the 1XRTT was still up. So I called to Verizon again at 2pm I explanied to the rep what was going on and she put me on hold for about 20Min then said "The account settings were not applied now they are activated the person before forgot to do this" I said: "great thanks" got off work an...

No go... I called and spoke to a very nice rep this time in the Data services group and their is no user name or password that will allow me to receive the EVDO signal.

My phone is stuck in 1XRTT mode A.K.A CDMA2000 it is not seeing the EVDO signal. But one thing I managed to acomplish is posibly getting a free battery for my trouble.

Thanks for the suggestion! how do you like the broad band service?

your username should be yourphone#@vzw3g.com and as far as i know they are using the same password, which is vzw.

I was on the phone with 2 techs for about 3 hours before I got my broadband going. They did mention that the plan was not activated properly at the beginning. My phone was switching from 1x to EV mode even though I was sitting at my desk all the time. After several hard resets, and several CDMA2000 deletes, we got it working. I have not had a problem since (about 2 weeks) and the connection rocks.

Here is a Update.

Monday I called tech support spilled all the details on my original post. I took the phone into a vzw service center they said yes its bad and ordered a new phone.

I went at lunch in the rain to pick it up. I walked up to the Service booth and told the rep. (who could care less and showed no emotion) my sad story he went and got my new phone reprogramed it and I requested that I keep the original battery at no charge since I have been put through the fires of hell. He said rather coldy NO I explained to him that the customer support rep suggested that I ask for the original battery if the vzw store wouldnt take care of me then customer support could help me out. He said FINE CALL CUSTOMER SUPPORT 59.99 please. grudg...

you are only supposed to be charged $29 for a spare battery, special program at VZW, due to short btty life and possible loss of all data

in all my years as a customer service rep for vzw this is the worst customer experience I've every read... It's so retarded how all those reps that you spoke to didn't see that you was on a local plan...in the last 2 yrs I have not sold a local plan...I think there is no benefit, for the same cost on the America's Choice you can avoid long distance charges and you could roam in most of the country without roaming fees. I hope the superviser gets back with you and you tell him what you went through...its amazing how you was treated...Sorry

I hate to even ask...

You do realize that I get the 1x when I don't get a signal strength to support EVDO, and that I switch to EVDO the moment I do get signal strength?

I can flick to 1x and back to EVDO quite often as I use it in different locations or if I am sitting near the "edge" of the EVDO signal strength.

The question is...did you ever get EVDO to EVERY work on your phone? If yes...then I think it was working as designed. If not then you are completely justified in everything you are posting here.

Best of luck!

sorry to hijack here, but the main benefits of a local plan is more min for the same money w/out giving up national long distance or IN calling, just FYI for all 🙂
