Why would this phone be so thick? It is .34" thicker than the V710 and has no camera, no expansion card slot, no Bluetoothand no Mp3 player.

Any ideas???

Genetics?

Seriously. An impressive speaker placed into a three year-old housing design.

Comparatively, this is a rather basic phone. The v710 with its many features has a longer talk life battery. The RAZR V3 has many features and is hlaf the thickness. Meanwhile, v65p battery is rated at 2.76 hours talk, v710 is rated 3.33 talk hours and RAZR is rated for 6.67 talk hours.

Granted, and as you point out, it is an older housing but why would they put such a wimpy battery when the technology is clearly available for one MUCH better? With a basic phone like this one, with its limited features, one would think the battery might enjoy 7 to 8 talk hours.

any thoughts?

The V65 like the V60p relies on a constant internet connection to utilize the Voice-Over-Internet-Protacol Technology. This alone puts a serious hurt on the life of a singlr charge. Sprint PCS phones rely on the same technology, but go dormant when there is no PTT activity. The other thing that reduces battery life is the LCD screen. Newer phones such as the RAZOR utilize better technology as far as the display is conncerned, however this does come at a cost. Overall this looks like a solid phone. WIth the exception of my own personal problems vith a V60V from SPrint, I have seen very few problems with the V60 family, and I have been selling verizon service for quite some time.
