Inbox SMS stored to SIM card

So on this phone, the standard SMS messages get stored to my sim card. I've changed the settings to store sent/outbox/mms/ect messages to the phone storage, however inbox sms messages are still sent to my sim card.

Also, my sim card can only hold 30 messages and I'm a heavy texter so this is an inconvenience to me, having to delete them a few times a day.

Is there any way to store inbox SMS messages to the phone storage, and not the sim card?

Battery as Back Cover?

I'm looking at a phone on ebay but the guy says it needs a battery and that acts as the back cover. Is this correct? If I buy an aftermarket battery, will it match the phone back> I guess I am confused. Thanks-April

Response from Samsung Support

I asked:
- How can I access POP/IMAP email while in Landscape mode?
- How can I access the internet through either a WAP or HTML browser while in Landscape mode?
- How can I add new phone contact while in Landscape mode?

Samsung responded:

Thank you for the inquiry regarding your SGH-D307 mobile phone. Unfortunately there is no way to access your POP or Imap email account, or a WAP browser while your phone is in landscape mode. There is also no way to add a phone contact entry in landscape mode.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Should you require assistance in the future, please feel free to email us or we invite you to contact Samsung Customer Support by phone, toll free at 1-888-987-4357.

Also, at your leisure...

Unlocking...

Has anyone gotten the D307 to work off the Cingular Network... I have six active AT&T lines. I have bought 3 D307's from 3 different people and every time I put in an AT&T Sim and turn them on each screen displaied "WRONG CARD" I can put in a non activated Cingular Sim the phone comes up fine (Just No Service). I can put in an active Cingular Sim and everything in the phone works. Each Vendor swears that the phones have been unlocked and will work with my AT&T Sims...

Phone pulled from Cingular stores

I was informed by a Cingular store rep that the D307 was pulled because of bugs. He had no information about any re-release. Interestingly, the online store still has them. I suspect that is because Cingular subcontracts the online and telesales to somebody else (Brightpoint?) You cannot buy from them and return to the store. But Cingular is obviously a lot more concerned about selling bad inventory from their stores...

Great Phone, wrong operating system

It appears that if this phone had Windows for Smartphones, (which would allow you to surf the web in landscape mode), then it would be classsic.

SGH-D307.....ewww

This has to be one of the most disgusting, most un-attractive, ugly phones I ever seen. Cingular....what are you thinking? 🙄

For those of you that have the phone, what price did you pay?

I was looking forward to getting this phone, but I'm not eligible for an upgrade or contract extension apparently so I was told I'd have to pay the full retail price of $300. I was looking at spending $200-$250 (and the $250 is stretching it).

Did you all get the phone at a discounted price? If so, how did you get it for that price?

TIA!

Bugs reported to Samsung

I emailed Samsung with these bugs. They then had me call them and I relayed the bugs to the CS Agent. I'm on hold for 2nd level tech support, but they said it's possible to get a firmware update when one is released. I really like this phone with the exception of these bugs:

1. Entering an SMS in Landscape mode. If you are entering text and
then select a comma and hit the caps key to type "I", for example, all
of your text disappears from the screen. If you hit the delete
key(back arrow) your text will reappear and if you press cap again it
works properly. I can reproduce this any time.

2. When sending a message, if you close the phone from Landscape mode
before the message is finished sending, the light stays on until you

FINALLY!!!

Geezuz. Who the HELL wants a damn camera phone if you need to get into govt buildings, museums, etc, and always have to leave your phone in the car??!??

Productive people, with a life outside of kiddee coloring books, need to have their phone with them, and a camera phone is a royal pain-in-the-you-know-what.

Where the hell is a RAZR WITHOUT a damn camera???

I've been waiting for a NICE phone, instead of the plastic moto low-end crap without a camera, forever. I'm getting one of theses ASAP for sure. I have vision problems, and the nice screen on this unit is just what the doctor ordered!

GOOD GOING SAMSUNG. APPARENTLY MOTO IS FILLED WITH KIDDEE STROKERS, WITH NO PEOPLE BUSINESS SENSE.

Good Phone - Horrible Software and Cingular Offerings

This phone has potential - but cingular has crippled it.

The only functions available in QWERTY mode are Notes, SMS, and Instant Messaging.

You can not get POP3/IMAP mail, or browse medianet or the internet in general in QWERTY mode. In fact, if you want to type in a URL, you have to open the phone up, in portrait mode, and type it using the stand T9, numberpad input. What is the purpose of having a full QWERTY keyboard, if you have to you use the alpha-numeric entry method??

This phone is ass-backwards. You can not install software on it via bluetooth - such as Java, etc - because Cingular probably want's you to download it through them. You can install an AOL/Yahoo only mail client for use in QWERTY mode, but when you do inst...
