missed call / voicemail / text on mini display

Hi there,

I just got my 6102. I'm disappointed that the mini display doesn't tell me whether or not I missed a call or received a message or anything. Instead it just has the time displayed as a screensaver. Is there any way to get remove that clock or otherwise get the mini display to let me know whether I have a message or a missed call?

Thanks!

Echoing when speaking on 6102

Hi all,

I have had this phone for 2 days, I'd upgraded a week ago to the SE Z520a and had to turn it back in because there were times I'd be talking and would get static through the ear piece, static which the other person could not hear and I could. So, since my last two phones were Nokia's I decided to try this one.

However, I have noticed that when calling or getting calls from some people I get a distinct "echo" when I speak. I was wondering, what is causing this? I have service through Cingular.

Would purchasing an ear piece (ear bud) fix this problem? This seems to happen consistently when calling my friend to her land-line. However, I've spoken to other people on landlines and have not had a problem.

Any informa...

Changing the 6101 faceplate

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to change the faceplates on the 6101. I have seen faceplates for them, but can't find where on the phone you find the screws that are on the faceplate. Any help would be great!
Thanks

I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!

I finally got the 6101 from T-mobile for a reasonable upgrade price of $149.99. So far I love everything about it. The only downsides are no bluetooth and no expansion memory slot. Guess I'll have to wait for Nokia's next gem for all that. Size is very nice. Fits well in the pocket. Quick menu response, and AMAZING reception.

This phone has BUGS!

I'm on my 2nd 6101 and I have found some bugs!

1) Pictures/backgrounds will not fill up the entire screen, there will be a white border around the edge.

2) When using voice commands the phone will reboot itself every so often.

The phone is pretty cool otherwise

Why is this list permanent?!?!

Does anyone know if there is a way to erase names from the "most recently used" list that comes up when you send a text message? It's been driving me crazy since I got the phone.

my zoom buttons not there

Hi all,
just one little problem, when i first got the phone the zoom function used to be the main button while i'm browsing through images. Recently i can't do that anymore, its changed to "send" for mms, and i have to go to options and then select zoom. Does anyone know how i can change it back?

Infrared (IrDa) vs data cable

Data Cable W/ CD

or

USB-IrDA Adapter

only thing im worried about the data cable is... whether or not the nokia software will recognize it?

need speakerphone assistance!

i would like to know if both holes output sound or only the one furthest away from the antena. i have a feeling that i might have got a drop of cola in the one closer to the antena and could be blocking the little speaker screen it has in there. so id like to find this out which hole outputs sound before i take it apart and clean it. thanks. i just check by covering up the holes one by one.
thanks.

6101 memory

I got the Nokia 6101 back in November. Initially, I couldn't have been happier with the phone. However, as time went by, I began having problems with the phone memory. I ended up deleting all photos, extra wallpaper, and almost all ringtones in an effort to regain some memory that seems to have disappeared. Anyone know if I just have my settings wrong or did I just get a bad phone?

how bad is memory really?

hi all,
i am contemplating buying this phone, but the only issue for me is memory.
So, how bad is it really? I mean, i dont plan to store hundreds of pics and MP3 files on it, but would i have enough space for, say 5-10 wallpapers, and perhaps as many nice polyphonic tones? And, of course, address book and calendar entries.

cheers!

This is why the low call volume.

Just to let people know, the reason for the scattered complaints about call volume (on the 6101/6102 as well) is because the earpiece has a single tiny little pinhole opening for the speaker. Most phones have much bigger and widely spaced openings.

This single pinhole opening will frequently be pressed against the folds in the pinna of your ear, therefore the hole plugged up and you can't hear. I had to constantly be repositioning the phone against my ear to hear.

This is highly variable from one person to another.

This is why I had to return the phone.

Phone to replace 6102?

We recently switched to a Cingular family plan with two 6102 phones. I am not very impressed, mostly because we simply can't hear each other! Yes, on both phones I turned on the Automatic Volume Control and also turned up the volume all the way. We still have a hard time hearing each other.

So - I have three days to choose another phone from the Cingular store. What phone would you recommend? I'm disappointed because I expected to be much happier with the 6102. I like flip phones in general but are the Nokia candy bar-type phones any better with volume? Are there any Samsung phones offered through Cingular that you think are great?

Thanks for any input!

6102.....AIM and Yahoo

Ok here is the deal the other day I was talking to my wife on AIM with my phone to her computer. Well I accidentally hit the exit key so I went back in to it and I accidentally hit it again. I was trying to log off but kept messing up. Well after the second time it happen I receive a Java script error and the phone shut off. Well I turn it back on and now when I try to log on to AIM or Yahoo I get "Allow network access?" message. Well I click on yes and it logs in but now I can not send any msg or receive msg, plus I can not log off the phone either. My wife has one too and it does the same thing as well. Is this a software problem? Is this a Nokia problem or Cingular?
