$50 for EDGE?

does anyone know how to activate the edge service for the treo 650? i've been looking around on the cingular website and i'm not really sure where it is.

there's Xpress Mail Unlimited that costs $50/month and MEdia Works that costs $20/month. they both seem the same, but i'm thinking the first one is edge and the second isnt?

is it really $50 a month for edge?? please post..

AT&T SIM CARD BLOWS UP IN CINGULAR TREO 650?

Has anyone heard that AT&T will not be selling the Treo 650. An AT&T Rep. said it is only available from Cingular and that if you try to put your SIM card in it will blow up the Treo? I think the rep is full of crap and that they want me to get of my rate plan because I have a plan I signed up 2 years ago when GSM was fairly new in my area for 1000 mins + nights and weekends free for $39.00. Can anyone verify that once they Treo 650 comes out from Cingular?

Bluetooth on Cingular (T-Mobile) 650- is it crippled like Verizon?

The Verizon guys say that Bluetooth on their 650 will be crippled just like the V710. Anybody here if we'll get full Bluetooth on this version? In other words, can you synchronize with Bluetooth, send data, etc?

AT&T Users must switch to Cingular plan to buy Treo 650???

Can anyone help me out with this. I have an old ATT GSM America plan that includes 1000 anytime minutes and nights/weekends free. I called to order the Treo 650 to put my SIM card in it and start using it. The customer service rep. and supervisor both told me that they can't sell me the phone unless I switch to a "data centrix" plan and that requires switching my current voice plan as well. So does anyone know how I can get a Treo 650 and I guess it needs to be "unlocked" so I can put my SIM card in it?

also, a cool posting on treocentral's forums about palmone people and how it seems that some of them really do keep an eye on what we're saying about their product in order to improve it. *impressed*

GSM / Cingular 650

Hi,

I spoke this morning with my local Cingular store rep. He told me that he had received word the GSM Cingular version 650 has been temporarily put on hold till at least March, due to some problems in testing.
I then called Cingular sales directly. I spoke with a woman who confirmed this. She said she got an e-mail this morning saying they had problems with the device dropping calls, so they pulled them back in to work on the problem some more. She was told it would be at least May before they would be available.
Well, maybe it's time for a trip to my Sprint store. ☚ī¸

The famous Buzzzzz

I have had my Treo for about five months now. I have no complaints on the phone, except for when it comes to the buzz that everyone else hears except for me. All other applications are great, and I enjoy them very much. However, I do not want to get the 650 unless this paroblem is fixed. If anyone has any information I would really enjoy to hear it.

Treo has really cut the cake on this one!!!

I'll tell you what; ever since the Motorola MPX200 days, I don't get excited over PDA phones, but this one has really got me pumped!

They really have improved a lot: bluetooth, EDGE, video recording, camera (with 640x480 - I know we were expecting 1.0MP, but at least it's a CCD chip and not CMOS garbage!!!), MP3 playback (with SD card), integrated email (POP3 and IMAP), etc. Not to mention the biggest upgrade of all - 4,096 colors to 65,000! The list really does go on, and I can safely say that since PalmOne has said once this GSM release is out it will be under $500, I will be one of the first in line for it.

I don't expect many flaws, because they took their time in putting this one together, as they do with most devices, unlike ce...

calendar & time zone shift

For those who have this phone, can you please create a meeting in calendar while the phone time setting is in east coast time zone (i.e. 3 pm), and then change the time zone to pacific. Can you please tell me if the meeting shifts to 12 pm?

The 600's did not shift the meeting. wonder if 650 has this fixed.

many thanks in advance

WiFi for the Treo 650!! ...well, kinda

There is something very special going on over at TreoCentral.com.

http://www.treocentral.com/content/Stories/502-1.htm »

Some very gifted people (chief among these, "Shadowmite") who happen to have some very appropriate and specialized skills have miraculously been at the right place at the right time to help each other accomplish something quite special.

Just last night, (Dec 15, 2004, about 11pm EST) they managed to hack the T5 (a PDA) driver released with PalmOne's new SDIO WiFi card so that it will work, roughly, with the Treo 650.

The hacked driver is very rough at the moment, but the fundamentals seem to work!

Again, these guys have been working on this without the benefit of source code.
Using instinct, talent, a...

Curious..

Got this info from Palm One's website..why is the GSM version slightly different than the CDMA version??

The camera takes 16-bit color pictures that are at a maximum VGA resolution of 640x480 pixels (0.3 megapixels), or 320x240 pixels in QVGA resolution. Videos are 320x240 in QVGA resolution or 176x144 in QCIF resolution for CDMA smartphones and 352x288 or 176x144 for GSM smartphones.
