Does anyone know how to turn off GPRS connection?

I see the GRPS indicator on external and internal screen, and if I can turn off when I dont need connection, I thought I may be able to save the battery.

When you charge V551, do you see "Charging...(now)" phase in external screen? and "Charging completed" phrase when the battery is fully charged?

For both of my wife and mine (two V551 phones), we saw those message at first charge, but since then we never seen the message. We just wonder if something wrong with our phones?

I've had my V551 since December and have been using it without any problems. Lately though (past 3 weeks) the phone seems to just reboot itself during a call. It doesn't happen every time but often enough to where it's an annoyance. Any thoughts or suggestions? Can I take it to cingular for a software upgrade?

I've had 2 v551s for about a month now, and like them a lot.

I've seen lots of debate about battery life, and never really had an issue - but now I do, and I'm wondering if it is similar to others.

I didn't use my phone for about 36 hours. During most of that time, it sat in the charger. The last time I looked, it was fully charged. After being out of the charger no more than four hours, and sitting at home where I get a strong signal, I received a 14 minute phone call.

At the end of the call, I got a low battery warning, and the phone shut down. I plugged it into the charger, and within 30 minutes, it displayed fully charged.

Do I have a battery problem?

Has anyone else had a problem with using the V551 while it is charging? On both the wall and car chargers, when it is plugged in it will not send calls. I can have full signal and it will automatically come back with 'Call Failed'. Once you unplug the phone, it will start working again.

Strange problem and I was curious if anyone else had it happen to them.

Using WinXp service pack 1 and Mobile Phone tools ver 3.11h; when I load a music file and try to save as an mp3 or transfer an mp3 to the phone, I get the error message:

"Unsupported format (mp3 codec may be inappropriate or missing)"

I tried downloading and installing the LAME encoder, but it created corrupt files. LAME has been uninstalled. Anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to edit/create and transfer mp3 to the phone using MPT3?

Has anyone tried the extendable antennas that replace the existing one on the phone (V551)? I would like to know before I buy one if it's hype or they really do increase your signal range. I live in an extended area and a little help on signal strength would be great.

I am interested in purchasing this phone. Was just wondering if someone could tell me what the backlight color is for the phone keys. I understand that the external display backlight is blue.

Contrary to what the sales rep said would be the case, my V551 came unlocked from the store. I guess there were a batch sent from the factory that way. As I had an upcoming trip to Jakarta planned I asked for the subsidy code. The store rep said that you could only get that by calling support. When I did so, I was told that I had to be a Cingular customer for at least 90 days. I guess the 10 years I spent as an AT&T customer don't count. 😡

While shopping for my trip I popped into a Phones+ store in Denver. The nice folks there popped in a T-Mobile card which worked immediately. They tried the same on one of their Cingular V551's in the store, but it was indeed locked.

At any rate, I'm in Jakarta now with a Telkomsel SIM car...

Just purchased MPT 3.0 with the Bluetooth Dongle-dingie. The program would not recognize my phone. Downloaded the updates and it still won't. I got the computer to recognize the phone under Blurtooth devives in the Control Panel, but MPT is still useless. Please help. 😡 😡 😡

Like I expected after reading many posts here, the v551 has really poor battery life. I tried the usual - charge and let it die for 3 cycles when I first got it. Am not running bluetooth, shut off the light on the display when I close the phone. Still, crappy battery times.

Wondering if anyone's found a solution.

I followed the great tips on here for downloading mp3 with the GO to URl.

It worked once with Walmart.com, then i uploaded another to my website and it failed to download.

I tried walmart again and it did not work again.

Get page unable to load or error 500.

any ideas?

I've had this phone for 2 months already, but have yet to come upon what Motorola claims to be the "FotoFun Editor," for pictures that I have taken. Does anybody know what this is?? Am I missing something??

When you want to record a conversation during a call, all you have to do is press and hold the left outside "voice record" button.

When you press it to initiate the record function, it makes a beep noise to the caller on the other end. Is there any way to disable this beep so the caller is not prompted that the conversation is being recorded?

Any ideas?

I was just wondering if anyone knew any tips or tricks to doing more with the v551. I know there are things you can do but how do you do them? Does anyone know anything about it? Any mods for the phone?

Just purchased the phone and have a couple of questions:

1. Anyone know of any way to enter phonebook info on computer and sync w/ phone without use of Mobile Phone Tools?

2. With Mobile Phone Tools, can you use a bluetooth connection with a computer or must you use a USB cable?

Any suggestions are appreciated.
