Does anyone know the "sync" menu is for on the 551? setting/conection/sync

I have found a way of making ringtones but they are wasting my phones memory by so much like 700-900kb per song so is there a way to make the memory usage less because I saw that the amount of second per tone is the same if I were to buy it from at&t and it isn't like the 700-900kb im using up but it is from 40-90kb which is alot less. I have been noticed that the bit rate is 160 kbps and the bit rate for the tones I bought from at&t are 32-64kbps so I was thinking if that was the reason why my memory usage was so high so if anyone knows how to make the bit rate less from a song on the computer to send to my phone please reply or if anyone knows how to make the songs memory less

Just recieved the software the other day. Works great! mp3 ringtones and picture tranfers is a piece of cake. Takes seconds to do. Okay, maybe a minute or 2. But thats all! I suggest getting it and ab-using it. Just download the update for it. This part took the longest to do. But well worth it. Picked it up for 38 on westsidecelluar.com. Check it out.

I just purchaced this phone about a week ago..after having three nokias, i must say that i'm rather displeased with the battery life on this motorola. first of all, i hate the whole "three bars" for the battery icon. That tells me almost nothing. And going to phone status and checking the battery meter is just as helpful since my battery seems to go in groups of 2/6. Anybody with the same problem?
Also, im kind of..worried about the life of the battery. My old nokia had a Li-Ion battery and it lasted weeks without charging. for this phone it seems i have to charge it every night, even with just a 20 minute call and sending/receiving no more than 5 text messages. this might be a stupid question, but is the battery just learning its limits? ...

How do I set the number of rings before a call goes to voicemail?

The voicemail set-up with Cingular has been a problem - probably just me! 😉

I read on motomodders that Cingular knows about this problem with some of the v551s and is willing to swap out your phone for a refurb. Contact them and let them know.

I bought the v551 back in November (S/W version R47_G_08.17.0FR) and I have noticed a few annoying things with this phone. The most concerning is the interference with my computer monitor. This happens both at work (Dell flat panel) and at home (older CRT). I'm concerned about the amount of radiation that is emitted to cause my monitor to periodically make a loud buzzing noise. This happens when the phone is idle (no calls active or coming in). Have others seen this problem? My wife has the same phone and she has the same complaint.

Other complains:
1) Dropped calls (could be service area)
2) Ringer sometimes changes to silent
3) Very poor voice quality on speaker. I'm told that it sounds like I'm talking underwater

Whenever I try to change the skin under Settings->Personalize, my V551 crashes and reboot without changing the skin. I thought something was wrong with my phone and got it replaced under the warranty. My replacement phone does the same. Is this a bug?

I've noticed one really weird thing. This has happened both with a HS810 and HS820. When I point the antenna down at the ground, away from the headset, about six feet away, the headset will experience static. When I point it up then the static will go away.

Has anybody else experienced this?

I just received my V551 yesterday. The phone is brand new with a 3.6 V, 780 mAh battery.

The information in this forum states that the battery is 820 mAh and some others here also said that the battery should be 820 mAh. But from posts here, I saw many of us have the 780 mAh batteries.

Is 780 mAh battery standard for V551? Does anybody here have new V551 with 820 mAh? Or does Motorola simply tries to save money by downgrading the battery to 780 mAh from 820?

If I get the "weak bluetooth signal" message from my phone, is that the fault of the handset or the headset? I have the v551 and the Moto HS810 headset.

I just switched from AT@T to Cingular and got the Motorola V551 phone. Unfortunately, I've tested it out and it has spotty reception. It doesn't drop calls, but everyone I talk to tells me that my voice is distorted. I actually swapped it for a new one and have the same problem.

I had a V505 with AT@T and it was the best phone I ever had, so I don't understand why I'm having these problems. I'm thinking of getting one of those reception enhancers that you put on the inside of your phone. Would that help?

The software code on the back of this phone is S/W:08.17.0FR_017. Is there a new version out?

Does anyone have any advice for me? I have a Sony Ericsson T616 as well and I've tested that on Cingular and it has excellant ...

This sounds like a good deal Motorola HS801 for $30.00 after MIR from Cingular has anyone used this handset how does it compares in terms of voice quality with HS820.

What is the largest size pic i can send to another phone or email using mms on cingular?
I convert my pic from 2048 x 1536 to 640 x 480 so I can send to my phone and send it out using mms. it says its to large. What is the max my pics has to be?

Sometimes when I take a picture it looks great, but when I try to send it, or when I save it to the phone it's a blurry mess! Does this happen to you too? It's the phone supposed to be on a different setting so this doesnt happen?

The internal screen of the a630 is 220w x 176h. If I took a picture and sent it to my friend's v551 (which has a screen with the same dimensions, but rotated 90 degrees- 220h x 176w), how would it look? Would the v551 crop it left-to-right and have blank spaces above and below it? And what about the opposite situation- if he takes a photo on the v551 and sends it to an a630?

I understand how to assign a ringtone to a particular entry in the address book, but is there a way to change the main ringtone- the boring one that came with the phone that plays when somebody who's not in your address book calls?

Whenever I try to transfer a file with the Linksys USBBT100 it says server does not support this operation. Any help any of you could give me on how to get this to work, I just want to put my own ringtowns on there.

Does anybody know how to make animated
wallpaper animate on this phone?? It seems with as many features as this phone has, there would be a way to be able to use some of these
