Firmware crashed my phone

Well I made sure that the Verizon store near me had the update and they did. So I went in and dropped my phone off. The tech rep said that it take up to an hour depending on how many downloads I have on my phone.

So I come back in an hour and they said, "Well we have good new and bad news." Im like okay tell me the bad news. And they said "Well during the middle of the software update it failed. Thus erasing all the memory on your phone." WHAT! All my pictures, downloads, addresses, calender events, phone numbers, wallpapers, and ring tones are all erased. I couldnt believe what I was hearing. They said that there was nothing that they can do for me, aboslutely nothing at that moment. So I was thinking to myself what could POSSIBLY ...

search function

my current phone, an older Kyo, allows search directly from the keypad without going into a search mode per se.
Will this do the same?
If I enter the first 3 "characters" of the persons name, a shortened list of scrollable possibilities will come up.

HELP! (please) Handsfree options for driving?

Okay, generally I like my new LG6100... BUT I primarily got this phone for the driving mode and speakerphone. It doesn't do me much good when I can barely hear the person I'm trying to listen to while I'm driving on I-5. Do I have any options that don't involve a headset?

I am one of those rare individuals who cannot use a headset (it would cost me $2000 to have my hearing "fixed" after each time I used one). That's why I opted for the speakerphone feature when I had to replace my old and dying Moto. What are my options for amplifying the sound on the speakerphone while driving? I know my old Moto had a "car kit" accessory which was a speakerphone/microphone/charger... is there a similar option which will work for my new LG 6100?

Any ...

voice dialing for hard to pronounce names??

Can you train voice dials at all for phonebook entries?
Alot of my phonebook entries are foreign names or numbers. I thought about enonciation but even that is tough for many of them as there are many sounds in different languages that don't have a place in the english language.

Thanks in advance

Have vx6100 and USB cable - now what to do with it?

I have a new VX6100 and a USB data cable. I like the phone so far. I was hoping to be able to use a connection to the PC to transfer pictures to the PC -- how might this be accomplished? I have searched some around and haven't found anything yet.

Also, the software it came with only allows addresses to be transferred, and this software looks rather lame. For example, I store my phone/addresses in Palm Desktop, and ideally I'd like to do a "one click" sync from PD to the phone. Right now, I have to export from PD, then manually edit the CSV file it generated to combine the first and last name fields, and add some headings, then run the Quicklink Mobile Phone software and respecify all the mappings that I want between the fields. It i...

camera question

Hey, I just purchased a VX6100 phone from VZW and was wondering if there is a 'fun frames' option that the 6000 had for the camera. If this is already built-in, where is it located? And if not, perhaps a firmware upgrade or 3rd party (installed using a data cable or get it now?) alternative available?

It'd be neat to be able to play with this when bored as a friend of mine with I believe a VX6000 does.

Thanks

After doing the firmware update

Would it be odd or problematic if after doing the firmware update (v.2) my pictures are still on the phone?

The Verizon tech told me all images and ringtones I downloaed would be lost, when I went back to pick up the phone, I was suprised my downloaded wallpaper was still there. Is that something I should be concerned about?

Also, does anybody else feel their battery runs down faster after the update?

REAL MUSIC RINGTONES FOR THIS PHONE!

Can you download "Real Music" songs on this phone? Like some phones just play the tune. I want the ones that ACTUALLY play the song with the lyrics!

mp3 Ringtone failure

I tried to download an mp3 ringotne using bitpim and it failed because the name was to long. Now the title shows up in the list of sounds, doesnt work, and will not allow me to delete it.

To make it even better BitPim will not read the rintones on the phone now because it gets to that one and fails again. I looked in the system file directory under user ringtones and it doesnt even list it there.

Any thoughts on how to get rid of this thing? I stopped by the Verizon store and got the deer in the headlights look from them. The tech was out. They suggest doing the firmware update, plan on it, just not today.

Thanks for any ideas.
