Battery Life?

How's the battery life? Better than the Shift?

GSM, Roaming etc

Just got and XPRT tonight to replace a Hero.

This phone is Sprints version of the Droid Pro. From some brief testing it looks like this phone is NOT SIM locked. It recognizes my TIM (Italy) SIM and my US Tmobile SIM and does not ask for a Subsidy Unlock Code.

That said the phone will not work in the US for GSM voice or DATA. From the Driod Pro forums it appears that the Radio supports all 4 GSM voice bands as well as the same US and World 3G Data bands with the Iphone does. So technically it could be a world wide 3G GSM device, but not 3G on Tmobile US ever. Like the Droid Pro it appears that Motorola has put in firmware that disables the phones ability to connect to US carriers GSM Networks by rejecting their network ID's....

No Visual Voicemail?

I just switched to the EVO Shift from my Palm Pre which was just too slow, although I still think that it's a great phone. I got used to Android and like it. I saw the XPRT and thought that I would use my 30 day trial and switch to XPRT, but got very used to the Visual Voicemail. Apparently the XPRT doesn't have it!! Am now rethinking trading in my EVO Shift. Any thoughts?

Soooo close. Moto and carriers, take heed!

We need a new version of the Droid Pro/XPRT with slightly improved specs and a trackpad. The carrier that picks up such a device will get all the QUERTY addicts who are desperate to get away from Blackberry. And that's a lot, believe me. RIM has proven that is just doesn't get it and that its no longer able to compete in a meaningful way. Its devices are massively overpriced for what they deliver and the next one worth owning on AT&T won't be out till AUGUST. The iPhone now has push messaging and BBM-style chat. So now BB's only advantage is the keyboard and trackpad - a keyboard that's ergonomically fantastic but whose layout makes NO sense. Moto, please..give us what we need and get it on every carrier, esp. AT&T who has O ...
