Phone randomly powering off

Has anyone else had problems with this phone shutting down at totally random times (sometimes during a call, other times just sitting on a desk)? This has been quite frustrating and VZW hasn't been too forthcoming in helping me find a solution.

Thanks

Reception Problems

To All,

I live in the Chicago Metro area and have Verizon Wireless. My previous phones were Nokias and they worked great and very few times were calls dropped. There was always good signal strength. I just got a new VX-4600 phone in July and the phone goes in and out of reception (Signal strength) faster than you can speed dial out a call. Are there others out there with the same problem. I know its not the Verizon Wireless service, because the Nokias worked great. I have the phone set to beep when it is or out of the service area and sometimes beeps like its a pager and I am traveling in the same locations as I did with the Nokias.

Driver for USB Data Cable

I purchased a USB Data Cable for my Verizon VX4600 and I can't find a suitable driver for Windows XP. I tried the one provided on the LGE website, but when I try to run it, I get the error message, "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."

Any ideas on where I can obtain the driver?

Thanks.

More screensavers available?

On the Get it now site there's a lot of pictures/wallpapers, but is there any available screensavers there? I haven't seen any and I'd like to find more than are available on the phone itself.

4600 is back on Verizon web site but gone from LGE site....

In Atl, the 4600 is now available on Verizon's web site, after being gone for 3 months. Now, the question is, why is it not listed when browsing LGE's site for CDMA Verizon phones?

LG vx4600 / vx6000 Retractable 3-1 Phone Charger for sale...

I ended up with an extra "Retractable 3-1 Phone Charger" with Zip-Kord cable attachment.

It will charge the phone when plugged into the car lighter socket, when plugged in the wall, or when plugged into a USB port on the computer.

It is brand new, works with the VX4600 and the VX6000

Price: $20 including shipping.

You can see the exact unit here (part no. is 31USBCharger):

LG VX4600 vs Samsung SCH-a650

Verizon is offering a 2-for-1 offer for either the VX4600 or Sam SCH-a650. I prefer the LG largely because of its external display (Samsung lacks one). Aesthetics aside, I want to select the one with rock-steady performance and better overall coverage. Any advantages to Samsung being tri-mode vs. LG's dual mode? Would appreciate feedback on this distinction, even from those not familiar with the actual phones.

Thanks, Alps

4600 availible at Direct retail Stores?

I am a VZW sales rep in the midwest area, I just got the daily Verizon general update e-mail. It contained a link that led to the callout card (info card that is above the display phone) for the 4600. So far, this phone was only availible thru the VZW website, Radio Shacks & other agents. I'm not sure when we are getting the phone.

wow...

This is really a good tool for you to manage all data in your VX4600..the tool is called handset manager data suite...really nice and cheaper than the data kit that we seen in Verizon stores.

Problems

Went to a third party store to see if they had this phone. While the phone looks great, and feels great in your hand, the woman said that every person she had sold the phone to had problems with it. They would call verizon, and even though the phone has its logo on it, verizon would not help out to fix or replace it. Hope they fix it and come out with another model with similar features, and I would switch.

Data transfer software for LG 4600

Can anyone recommend software to transfer data to and from my 4600 and my Mac? The only ones I've heard of are Data Pilot and Snap Sync. I'm amazed there isn't more info available on this. The LG documentation doesn't even mention the port on the phone! You'd think with 400+ phone entries it would be more common.

LG vx4600 BIG problem

Does anyone know anything about the vx4600 locking up?

I am on my second vx4600 in two weeks. The first phone shut off (locked up?) on its own three times in a week. The only way to get the phone working again was to remove/reattach the battery and then hit the on button.

Tonight the same thing happened on my replacement phone.

I found one very recent post elsewhere referencing the exact same problem.

Now I find that it's no longer available on Verizon's website. Strange indeed.

Any information would be appeciated.

Get it now! Maps question:

I just discovered I can get maps and directions on my VX-4600 via Get-it-now!

It's free for the first few months, and then there is a charge of $3.99/month for unlimited directions and maps, from MapQuest.

My question is, since the 4600 is GPS capable, will the phone know where I am and direct me where to go?

Is the GPS for E911 only?

How do you get the time/day/ date on front at same time?

I know, dumb question but:
I've seen several pictures of the phone on the net with time/day/date on the front screen at the same time. I didn't see anything in the manual or by fiddling around with it to get it this way (it's either a large font time of day on screen or it's day of week and date altering by pressing the side button, one display or the other). Went through all the display and backlight settings but can't seem to find a way to get all on at once. How do you do it?

Here's an example from the phone scoop picture:

By the way, had it for about a month and has been great so far.
