Blocking calls

Is there a way to block incoming calls from a specific number? I've looked but haven't been able to find it.

Another Storm (Monaco) sighting

Article seems to indicate that the Storm name will probably be no more. Although I like the name, I understand why they may want to dump it.

iphone update?

"I think April is the proper time-frame for an iPad 2," Marshall told Computerworld magazine. "Since I'm projecting that Apple will release a CDMA iPhone in March, both will help to equalize Apple's seasonality."

Looks Like RIM's Thrown in the Towel at VZW

The main reason RIM is dead in the water at VZW is.......screen size, or lack of it, resolution, camera quality, browsing speed and convenience, and stale product design. The only thing BB has going for it is pushed email. They do not have a landscape slider with a 4.3" screen, or anything new on the immediate horizon. The four recently proposed LTE devices are Android, and the Iphone announcement is the nail in the coffin.

To bring a Torch-like drop down hard qwerty is not the answer. Until, such time arrives that they promote a 4G QNX platform handset, you can rest assured RIM products will occupy a back-burner position on VZW priorities. My Storm2 will bridge the gap until someone pushes email like BB and develops a device that has som...

VZW ANNOUNCES LTE LAUNCH

Its only a Press release:

Verizon Wireless will launch its LTE network on December 5 in 38 markets, covering 60 major airports and 110 million potential customers. The carrier plans to blanket its entire nationwide 3G coverage area with LTE service by the end of 2013. Initially, the network will be available on two USB modems, the LG VL600 and the Pantech UML290, which will each cost $150. A $50 rebate is available with a 2-year agreement. Data plans will be available at $50 for monthly access with a 5GB cap, or for $80 with a 10GB monthly cap, and users will pay $10 per GB if the cap is exceeded. The company claims customers will see a speed boost of up to 10X over current 3G technology, with download speeds in the 5-12 Mbps range, up f...

using 9550 only over wifi

a friend gave me her old 9550. is it possible to only turn on wifi, connect to a router and use all web apps or do i need to register this phone with verizon? i'de like to use it like the ipod touch wifi only.

i'de turned off mobile network and bluetooth. i turned on wifi. connected to a router and when i try to browse the web i get "unable to connect to the internet, please try again later". when i look at the router settings on the 9550 phone i get info so i am connected.

my laptop is connected to this router over wifi without any problems.

thanks

LTE Announcement today

Verizon's 4G network will be available in 38 markets and major airports, covering approximately 100+ million people by the end of the year. They plan to double that in 2012 and cover their entire existing 3G footprint with 4G LTE by the end of 2013.

This confirms what I've long suspected........

A completely revised Storm3 will be released with 4th generation technology late in the 1st quarter of next year.

Storm-suffering might be a thing of the past 😁

Removing App. from Home Sceen

Downloaded a App called RestartMeStub, did not work, deleted it from Downloads, but when I press and hold the Blackberry key, it still shows it running in the back ground. When I press on the Icon nothing happens and I can't find it anywhere else. Is there a way to get rid of it? I have pulled the battery a couple times. Help please.

Thank you,

Robert

Storm "END OF LIFE" OFFICIAL

Considering the "deadness" of this forum, one would think nobody has the device anymore. 😲

One will also not buy a 9550 after 10/10/10. Thats it...kaput date! This is confirmed by VZW spreadsheet sources!

Verizon is flying the Android flag and has no replacement for the Storm2. RIM has not totally scrapped Sure Press, and a Storm3 might follow in April with a new OS and an LTE platform. Funny thing though. The 9550 is not that bad. The way I have it equipped, I'd rather have a device that I know, performs well, and does not require starting all over again from point A with the next generation planned to become obsolete in short order dumb (smart) phone. Who the hell has the time for this nonsense anyway?..... 🙄

Check for water damage???

How do I know if water damage is the issue with my phone or something else? It keeps turning off. When it is on, it sometimes blinks too! Did get a little spilled on it but I thought I pulled the battery quick enough and dried it off. Isnt' there a dot somewhere on the phone that turns a different color (under the battery I thought)??

Problem with Speaker. Anyone else have this problem???

I have had some speaker issues with the Storm 2. All in all, I LOVE the phone; however, if I am talking, and the person on the other line talks at the same time, their voice kind of sounds like a radio frequency. It has a weird tone/humming noise to it.

Maybe I am just dealing with a bad batch of Storms as this is the second time this phone has been replaced and I am still having the same problem.

If someone could comment and let me know if they are/are not having the same problem or if they have dealt with this problem in the past.

The people at the phone store probably think I'm completely crazy.

DIDN'T EVEN LAST A YEAR....HOW PATHETIC!

The latest rumor coming from the team @BBLeaks is that Verizon is putting End Of Life status on the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 and BlackBerry Curve 8530. These devices just came out less than a year ago so this is some fast turnover for RIM. The Storm2 9550 is going to get a refresh with BlackBerry 6 and 512MB of memory to support it.

Here is the wording:

The Curve2 is end of life – Final Shipments August
Refer to the “Stock Check” tool in POS for on hand availability
Device will retire on 8/1, replacement coming in Q3/Q4
BlackBerry Storm2 (9550):
The Storm2 is end of life – Final Shipments August
Refer to the “Stock Check” tool in POS for on hand availability
Device will retire on 8/15, replac...

OS 6 On The Storm2?

There's been a lot of talk about the upcoming BB OS 6 on the CrackBerry forums today.

http://crackberry.com/new-official-blackberry-6-teas ... »

With over 150 comments, (Many differing opinions), I still do not believe this OS will be offered by RIM for this device, nor will it appear on the Storm3. The "word out" is that device will have its own OS, specifically designed for the touch screen Storm. A sneak peak UTube Video today, shows a proliferation of social site improvements if thats your thing. Great if your a Messenger fan, FaceBook, My Space etc.

If not, I don't see the big deal with this OS. Besides, 256Mb on the current device more likely will not "cut the cake." A good source from RIM advised me that OS 6 ...
