that touch pro update...

i just recently did the touch pro update to the new rom and hotfix. i like it and i love what its done, but for some odd reason, whenever i try to close opera, it dosent close. i have to soft reset to get it to go away. and when i switch to the home screen opera dosent show up on my task manager list, but everything else does. anybody have any idea what this is? or how to fix it? or am i the only one to experience this? 👿

HTC Touch Pro Voice Alert ? Random Talking

I don't know if someone is playing a joke on me but for the last couple of months my phone will start talking - it sounds as if it was a femail automated voice reading out an email because it usualy is only 6 or 8 words but by the time I pay attention it reads out my email address.

Of course this always seems to happen late at night or it will wake me up when sleeping - I do not have any usual apps running and have searched everywhere for what this could be. I do have witnesses too!

When I look at the phone there are no alerts after it goes off.

Anyone experience similar or do I have strange friends playing some sort of joke on me?

Alternative to PDANet

I must first and foremost say PDANet is a great app...I simply can't justify spending 35 dollars when all it does is register to the phone...

Now I own HTC products, and just like PCs, they need the occasional rehash, or FORMAT if you will to start anew...that means it's 35 bucks every time I need to do this to get my PDA net to keep working...

So, anyone know how to get around this or a way to exploit the phone's net to my laptop for free without paying sprint or pdanet any more money than I already do?

PDANet got their 35 and won't register to my new phone...(insurance upgraded me from mogul, that piece of dog crap, to the touch pro, HUZZAH!) and they won't match it up, so screw them.

Sprint wants like 80 a month to provide pho...

cool info for touch pro users

did you know... you can make a voice memo and use it as a ringer? also, if ur listening to any music on your phone, you can go to notes and record and use it as ringers. i doubt ill ever use the mp3 trimmer again. any song im hearing i can just record any part i want and boom... its a ringer. also, cool to have fam and friends personalize their ringer. anyway, i will end by saying this is my third touch pro in 3 months, it keeps dying on me, screen goes blank, keyboard stops working, and many other glitches... but overall i love everything about this phone and its convenient features. i just hope this one lasts longer than 2 months 😎

Beware! Verizon has disabled features that you may expect.

The phone is excellent and comes from HTC with great features. However; Verizon has disabled the GPS and the FM radio. I'm waiting for confirmation from HTC, but according to their website and the user's manual, it has an internal GPS receiver and FM receiver. But, Verizon has crippled these features. I can only assume it is to force people to use Verizon applications, which are not free, for similar features. No other cellular carrier treats it's customer's like idiots and takes advantage of them like Verizon. Once this is confirmed, I will return the phone and most likely switch carriers. I will seek professional advice because this is very unfair.

Reception with Alltel

In all my research, I think this might be the best option. I live in a rural area with Alltel/Verizon but still Alltel service in our local city, therefore reception is my ultimate priority. I really like the Blackberry Storm but like many of the newer phones, it is available via Verizon and not Alltel. Anyhow, can anyone tell me how the reception of the HTC Touch Pro is with Alltel? Thank you!

diminishing touch screen responsiveness

Hi, I just received an HTC Touch Pro from Sprint yesterday, let it charge overnight, and after several hours on chat and in a Sprint store, finally got it activated this afternoon -- may have had something to do with my really old plan and/or suspending service when I lost my previous phone. I had a Sanyo 4700 for the past seven years, and it wasn't much, but what little it did, it did 99.9999% reliably (I think I only did a reset on it twice in the entire seven years). But I digress.

Once I got the Touch Pro activated, I spent the rest of today fooling around with the phone in a good faith effort to learn how to use the interface so that I can make a truly informed decision whether to keep it or look elsewhere.

Right now, the bigges...

wifi

Can wifi be used to make calls? Specifically on verizon. Same question again, but with IMs? There is no coverage at my house for ANY carrier, so I'd like to use my high speed DSL to make calls.

still 299, worth it?

Looking at this, or the Omnia, or maybe even a BB, just wondering if the 299 price (that's w/my NE2 discount) is worth it?

Tx 🤣
