How do you answer or use the speakerphone

How do you answer or use the speakerphone without having the phone open?

Also, does anyone know how to change the color of the clock on the front screen...you can not see dark red against black!!!

USB charging??

Does the A837 charge when it is plugged into a USB port from a computer? That is, does it draw power from the USB cable? Or does the phone have to be charged with “special” chargers that plug into the USB port on the phone? I am looking to get one of these “rugged” phones for my girlfriend, she is VERY hard on regular flip phones. Two years usage and the case is cracked and the hinge is falling apart. I just want to know if any ol’ USB outlet on a computer will charge this phone. We have lots of USB ports around, all over, that could be used to charge a phone.

Advice on Rugby

Yesterday I dropped my phone about 2’ on concrete. It split in half, but NOT a scratch. This phone has been advertised as a durable phone. I even asked the salesperson about concrete because I work on it. She said it can withstand a normal fall of 3' onto concrete. Forgot, before I go on…I didn’t get the insurance, and I’ve had it more than 30 days but less than 90 days. Anyway, after (3) calls to Samsung explaining how this had to have a defect in the hinge…$70 and we can fix you right up. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice on getting it repaired without cost or reduced costed?

PTT

Does anyone know how to set phone to be able to access PTT with the phone closed?

Holding the PTT button says press and hold volume key to unlock.

Holding volume key says the same thing on first push, then keys unlocked on second push.

It will only let me access PTT until the front display goes out.

Then you have to do the whole thing over again.

This is a pain............

Thanks
Jay

Need Texting Help

when i would text on my old phone, and wanted to go back in the text info to change a letter of a word or fix a word, the right soft key allowed me to back track through my text message to fix or change things. Is there some way to do that on the rugby? I can't seem to figure it out, so I end up exiting my text and starting over. I know there has got to be a way, but I can't find it.

reception in rural areas

This phone sounds like it will be a good choice for me, as I need a phone that holds up well with abuse, but I still have not given up my old bar phone, because I have to have a phone that has reception in rural areas where topography and distance from cell towers is a problem. Has anyone had any experience with use of this phone in remote areas where reception can be poor? Thanks.

Reception/transmission qualities

Anyone care to comment of the reception and transmission qualities of the Samsung Rugby cell phone. I work in an area where AT&T has marginal coverage and I need a phone with good reception.

Finally a rugged phone

Customers have been asking for this for a long time and the Motorola V365 just wasn't cutting it. Hopefully this holds up. It's a little pricey but I know the construction workers will buy it.

Sprint Naviagation?

Why is the screen shot on the device a shot of Sprint Navigation if it's a phone for AT&T?

Just an interesting thought...

Yellow Rugby

Could you folks straighten me out?

This phone does not use a sim card apparently and you may not buy one unlocked.

So the only way to use one is under contract?

In the business what is a gsm phone with no sim card referred as?

Best Wishes,

Gardner

Charger cradle

Hi,

Anyone know if there's a desktop charging cradle for this phone? I looked in the sponsor stores from here, and a few shopping sites, but haven't found one.

Thanks,
Bob

Just played with it a little.

Just played with this phone a little. Seems pretty well constructed. Although it has a 'speaker' button on the right side but you couldn't answer a phone call with it. And when on speaker you can't close the clamshell or it'll end the phone call.
The interior screen seemed really nice. And for a regular phone the Internet seemed really fast.
The ear piece went loud enough to distort and the speaker was pretty loud, still not Nextel loud though.
