reception in rural areas

This phone sounds like it will be a good choice for me, as I need a phone that holds up well with abuse, but I still have not given up my old bar phone, because I have to have a phone that has reception in rural areas where topography and distance from cell towers is a problem. Has anyone had any experience with use of this phone in remote areas where reception can be poor? Thanks.

Being a 3g phone, and since most 'rural' areas have not yet been updated to 3g coverage, it might be wise to get this phone, but keep your old bar phone for when you go out to these rural areas, then you can just pop your simcard in the old phone and use that one temporarily for service.
The best way is to try it out... you do have 30 day trial to try phone out as long as you don't damage the phone.
