I have the US version?

I received a 6300 as a gift recently. It's a neat little phone, but not my first choice. I noticed a lot of people are saying there is no US version, but the literature that came with my phone has me puzzled.

The box says "Wide tri-band support; EGSM850, EGSM900, and GSM1800/1900." I'm on the Cingular network and this phone has been working just fine. This phone was purchased in Thailand.

Is there any other way to check what frequencies it supports?

850 version available in Canada...but not U.S.

I don't get it.
I love Nokia phones, but I live in the States. Nokia doesn't seem to have lots of love for the U.S.
They have released the 850 version of the 6300 for Canada, but it's locked to Fido.
C'mon Nokia...what gives already???

U.S. version now expected Q2

Nokia seems to have an ever-changing response to the question, "When will the U.S. version be released?"
First it was Q1. Then it was "might not be released". Also thrown in the mix was end of '07. A nokia rep told me yesterday that the latest word is "Q2".
So...anytime before the summer, Nokia might actually release the 850 version.

release in USA??

does anyone know when the 850 usa version will be released? its not even on nokia usa site yet. I've searched online and can only find the 900 version. you would think phone manufacturers in this day in age would only sell quad band phones but that is a whole different discussion ๐Ÿ‘ฟ . also does anyone know what carriers will pick up this phone is usa? with no umts I'd guess its for tmobile.?? just a guess

3G issue

Wall Street Journal 1/29/07: Page R4:
excerpt-

Although 88% of today's cell phones come with Web-browsing capabilities and more than 117 million people owned such phones in October, only 16.6% of these customers used their browsers to surf the Internet that month.

So, while Nokia has yet to roll out 3G devices stateside, I wonder if it is even that relevant. A little sarcasm.

Release Date?

Does anyone know a U.S. release date and carrier for the 6300?
I have seen it for sale on a number of sites that sell unlocked GSM phones, but I think I'd rather wait to see where it pops up in the U.S. before going that route.
Thanks.

Flash lite 2.0?

No, not this:

๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Could this be the start of flash enabled browsers on regular cellphones? (Other than VZW, that is) Will we soon be able to guffaw at random things on Youtube wherever we wish? Could the near future bring the ability to demonstrate the hilarity of homestarrunner.com to coworkers anytime I wish?

Damn, that's cool.
