Using Blackjack as a modem for a computer

I currently use a Treo 650 and a program called PDANet to connect to my laptop as a modem for DUN. Does anyone know if there is a similar program for the Blackjack, or if there is a way to set up the blackjack for it to work with DUN?

Thanks,

Mac network access via bluetooth

With the advent of OSX 10.4.9, bluetooth "Network Access Profile" (supporting PAN) is [supposedly] implemented. Has anyone got this working yet? And if so, what is the setup? I have been using dial-up via USB cable, but DUN wasn't supported in the Blackjack and NAP wasn't supported in OSX, so I've been waiting for 10.4.9 to make all of this work properly. Insights anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Lost XM

Anyone know why my XM radio won't work anymore? Here's the details.
-activated the trial period (7days I believe)
-listened for about 15 minutes
-exited and turned it off in Task Manager

since then (2 days ago) I have not been able to reconnect to it. When I click on the 'streaming radio' icon...basically nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Blackjack w/out data plan?

I think the Blackjack looks great. I've played with a few at my local Cingular stores. My problem is I don't want to pay the $39.99 a month Cingular is requiring for a data plan. I need to replace my old pda and my old phone. The Blackjack will work great. I use my phone for talking and texting, but don't want to pay the extra $39/mo. Is there a work around that people are aware of? I'm guessing I could just cancel the $39.95 data plan after I get my rebate money but I'm afraid the phone won't work, or worse, that I get a crazy $1000 bill for a month's worth of phone service.

Any help would be great.

Storage Card Video Playback

😕
SmartPhone noob here...
I have a 1gb micro sd card for my blackjack and recently put a .avi version of The Boondock Saints (please no comments on not liking it 😛 )onto it. The file plays fine in Windows Media 10.0 on my PC, however, when i try to play it on the phone the following message appears:

Alert
An object or name was not found.

The only option is OK. .mp3 files from the same card are able to play fine...any clues on how I can play .avi files on my blackjack? do they have to be converted, and if so what tool do you all recommend to convert with?

Thanks for any and all help
Josh

Comcast Email, Outlook, and my Blackjack

I use Comcast email and was successful in configuring my Blackjack so that I could receive my Comcast email on my Blackjack. Just a few days ago, I dedided to configure my Outlook 2003 so that I could access my Comcast email thru Outlook. Now, I can no longer access my Comcast email on my Blackjack. I've tried deleting the Comcast POP account and I am not able to. I have also tried to re-register the Comcast POP and when I do, there is no email to access. How can I access my Comcast email on my Blackjack now? Do I have to do away with using Outlook?

help with voice notes (voice recording)

I'm about to purchase this phone but I'm very interested to know more about voice notes (voice recording) capability because I would like to use it for class recordings. Please help me with some answers.
What kind of encoding is used for voice notes files and can this files be transfered from phone to pc?
Which is the maximum time length which can be allocated for one voice note? Can be expanded the voice recording capability to the external memory (micro sd) after the internal phone memory will be consumed?

Thank you so much.

Speakerphone "air" sound and call quality

Well, before I got the blackjack a week ago...I had the Motorola V551 for 2 years...GREAT, GREAT PHONE. Dropped it several times, dented the outside, worked FINE still. Anyway...SO I got the blackjack. Right away I noticed I got fewer bars right at home where I had PERFECT service before. When I call someone or they call me, when I say "Hello ? Hello" there is a delay before I can hear the other person. The speakerphone makes a loud "PSHHHHHHHH noise the whole time that is pretty noticeable and annoying. The call quality is not that great also. I keep hearing some kinda buzzing that is pretty noticeable also. So, I swapped my blackjack for another one the other day and am STILL having the same problems. Is this a normal thing ? Please let me...

Promising solution for battery issue

I discovered a great way to make the Blackjack battery last for days.
Here's the secret: go to the wireless manager and turn off the radio for the phone. Now my battery lasts days without a charge.
Sure you can't make or receive calls, browse the Internet or check email, but I think these are small sacrifices to make for such a cool phone.
Now I use it all day for solitaire and that nifty calculator.

Great solution! 😉

An actual "Q" killer

This phone should finally kill that crappy "Q" from Motorola. But it is a Windows Mobile phone so I guess we'll have to see.

BLACKJACK vs MOTO Q Black

Okay, a tough comparison, I know, considering that the 2 phone are on different carriers. But assuming the carrier factor is removed, Id like to know everyones opinion on their preferences and reasons why. Again, try to keep the carrier out of it.

I know they're both WM5. I know they're both slim, black and attractive. I know they both have complaints of battery life.

Additionally, any insiders heard of a GSM Q in the works? How about a CDMA BlackJack?

Thanks!
