fixing the mpt using v710
dudes, this is a solution i have for mpt and the v710, if you have the mpt cd and an original motorola usb cable, try this if your mpt doesn't recognize the phone correctly
1- uninstall the mobile phone tools
2- restart the pc
3- install the mpt from the cd rom, when you finish installing the mpt, choose NOT TO launch the mpt.
4- go to www.bvrp.com> oem > on the search engine type MOTOROLA and do not choose a location > click on the first hit of the result > download the upgrade > download the 2.21b
5- after you finish downloading the 2.21b, run the upgrade and then open the mpt.
6- after everything is finally installed, do a master reset on the v710 (menu>settings>initial setup>master reset> for the security code you have to press t...

From what I've heard, motorola's been giving people, including myself, the run-around about the bugs going on w/ the v710. I haven't purchased any accessories yet, b/c I wanted to find out what works and what doesn't b4 wasting my $. I know little to nothing about up-to-date computer technology, so if instructions are cut and dry, I'd probably have a difficult time installing/utilizing this software.
I'm sure u know more than I about these matters, and I'm not trying to bust ur balls, but I was hoping u were an actual rep, considering the name of ur handle, and could shed some definitive light on the cont bug probs.

mpt will work to sync outlook, like your calendar and contact, but only using the usb data cable, your bluetooth works for headsets and dial up networking

Panasonic X700
Audiovox SMT 5600 / SPV C500 (HTC Typhoon)
Just put down the V710 & back away from it... You will be the better for it and the nightmare will be over... 😉
