So my wife dropped my RAZR in the pool a few days ago. I let it dry for a day or so, and now when I turn it on with the battery on it seems to work ok.

The only thing Im noticing is the screen seems to have some water spots or damange in it. Im not sure if it will permanently be like that or if it still just needs to dry under the screen.

Theres no major discoloration or anything like that, it is hard to explain, but you can tell that something happened to the display, like water or something.

Is anyone knowledgable about LCDs and water? Will this go away or is this something I should expect to be permantly damaged? I have the battery out and dont plan to use it because Im scared if there still is water in there, the phone mig...

It all depends. Go ahead and use the battery that you have, it's not going to damage your phone any more that what's already done. Water damage is tricky to predict, it will either stay the same as it is now or get severely worse. The chances of it clearing up are slim. Water damage also voids your manufactor's year warranty on your phone. ☹️

well my phone started out not working at all for the 1st day or so...since it was still waterlogged. Then after a few days I was able to make calls, get calls, text message, bluetooth everything...everything seemed fine except 1 thing...the people on the other end said they couldnt understand me and I sounded like a robot when I talked through the phone, which means the thing you speak into must be damaged or still wet. When I use my bluetooth headset it works fine.

so its been another 2 days of warm dry weather so I will try to hook it back up again and see if I still sound like a robot.

Yes the red dot is there on the back so they dont cover that in the insurance.

you do know if you had total equipment coverage on your line, that insurance would replace your phone for 50.00. insurance is not thru vzw. but thru lockline and asurion companys.

Put it in the oven for several hours at say 120-140 degrees (not hot enough to melt it). That should remove any remaining moisture.

What can cause problems is precipitated minerals left by the water.

But all you can do is try.

It's not the same, but I dropped a pager in the toilet once, soaked it good, gave it the oven treatment, and it worked fine thereafter.
