Trying to decide: v400 or v551?
They seem very similar, but there are a couple of things I can't quite figure out. (Cingular phone support is useless 🙄 they know less about it than I do!)
v551: has bluetooth...ok, cool. but can you use a regular headset with it, or does it ONLY support blue-tooth?
syncing w/ a pc: from the posts here on the forum, it seems that people sync both of these to their pc's. (or at least transfer data/ringtones/pics back and forth). I can't determine if (again) bluetooth is the *only* method of doing this w/ the 551, or if you can use a cable/usb as well?
One confusing thing is that on Cingular's site, they list the 551 as not even being "data connect" capable. I understand that carriers can disable certain features of ce...

the v551 does all the same stuff the v400 does, it is just blue, bluetooth, and can take video clips.
yes caller id is on it, it is the same phone.
takes the same cables, same plug in earpiece.
it is data connect capable, almost all phones are. cingular doesn't disable that stuff, verizon does.
go for the 551, you'll love the bluetooth functionality, and the video is a cool toy.

I got the 551 to replace the most overrated phone ever: the RAZR. I am very happy with it. EDGE, Bluetooth, Video blah blah blah.

motorola, its all about NOKIA!!! Bluetooth features are much, much better than Moto, easier to use too! NGAGE QD, 6620, 6230, 3200 series are the BOMB!!! Oh and let me tell you about reception....far far better than MOTO...Goodbye Moto...Hello Nokia!!!

You're not seriously gonna sit there and tell me the N-gage is a good phone.
Yeah it makes calls, but video game-wise, the framerate sucks and it crashes all the time.

thanks. I hope the charger is the same, too. I picked up an el-cheapo one at target thismorning so I could have something to wrap up and stick under the tree for the recipient of the phone (which obviously isn't going to be here for xmas 🙄 ). The label said it was for a bunch of phones in the v series, including the v400. I'm assuming that the 551 hasn't made it to the label yet because it is so new....
so why do you think Cingular has left the "data connect" feature off the list for this phone? not sure, lots of the phones have accessories but aren't listed on the website. i hope you had a nice christmas, and yeah same charger.

Drop both of them and wait for the v635...unless budget is the issue. in that case..go with the v551..it is just as expensive, if you now where to shop...and takes video and has bluetooth
