Just purchased unlocked 5600-now what?

I just purchased an unlocked SMT 5600 off of ebay. I was curious to the steps I should take in order to use on the Cingular network? I still have an ATT TDMA plan and have not migrated yet. Do I just go to the Cingular store tell them I have an ulocked phone and want to migrate to a cingular plan. Also, is there a way that a carrier can "relock" your phone once you activate their sim in the phone?

Cheers!

Audiovox vx6600 Speaker Phone?

While I was reviewing the spec on the vx6600 phone, it was stated that it has a speaker phone. I own this phone/pda and love it but was not aware it had a speakerphone? If it does could someone tell me how to use it. If it doesn't have one, please let me know cause I'm going crazy trying to find it.

Text Messaging Error

So yesterday morning I tried to send a text message with my Audiovox 8900 and it would work. Tried again didn't work. Tried again to other people, didn't work.

So I called up my carriers technical support and asked if there was anything wrong with the system, or my account or whatever and they said everything looked fine. The tech got me to try and send her a message, didn't work. Then she tried to send me a message too and that didn't work either. She then got a coworker in the office who has an 8900 to send me a message and THAT didn't work. But the tech sent the coworker a message and she replied to it just fine. So the tech diganosed it as a problem with the phone and Audiovox's tech support number and sent me on my way.

*sigh*

Audiovox fons rock!!!

I ve Had My AudioVox 8100 (up in Canada signed w/ Telus) for like 5 years Ive dropped it numerous times as well as put it through the wash - well actually that was my girlfriend. I cant break the damn thing!!!! lol

I used it way up north, past Fort Mac Alberta - out in the middle of the bush and w/ a little rigging of the antenna I was able to place calls -no one elses phone would work.

They might be ugly , but it can withstand whatever i can dish out at it and it still keeps ringing

CDM-8940 mini SD Problems

I've read up quite a bit about this but nothing seems to be working. Its a RiData 512 MB mini SD. I can format it on the phone, but it will not allow me to do the "Transfer to New Phone" option. It just gives me a message saying that the "Data Could Not Be Reconstituted". I tried transferring a pic to the mini SD card as someone suggested, but this just gave me an error. The mini SD card itself seems to be working fine; I was able to format it and transfer MP3s to it on my PC without difficulty. The phone does not recognize them though. Audiovox was no help; their suggestion was to "Send it in For Repair." Any ideas?

Anyone try the Audiovox 8910?

The Audiovox 8910 will be coming out soon for my carrier and I am to be demoing this phone. Does anyone have this phone or have played with it enough to have some thoughts on it? I am interested if it's really going to be better than my Audiovox 8900 that I am currently using. Thanks in advance!! 🙂

Audiovox or Samsung on VZW??

Just switched over to VZW from t-mobile due to my company. Went out right away and purchased a Samsung a650, what a disapointment compared to my moto v300 on t-mobile.

Bought thru Costco and the only other VZW phones they carry in my price range is the Samsung a670 or the Audiovox 8910.

My current a650 is going to get returned, about 18 hours stand-by and about 20 mins of talk and the battery needs recharging...ridiculous, had a similar problem with VZW several years ago....chewing up the phones battery.

Does a tri-mode phone (a650) chew up more battery than a fully digital phone a670 or 8910?

Whats the better choice here Audiovox or Samsung?

audiovox 8600

To anyone who is thinking about purchasing the 8600 DON'T save your funds and buy the LG 4500.

8600 although cute in size is a dud. the phone ringer is much lower due to the speakerphone being inside the clam instead of located on the exterior. The phone continuoulsy drops calls and it's a piece of junk.

So glad i moved on!

Audiovox and UTStarcom

So the wireless divison of Audiovox has been sold and confirmed. Now they are called UTStarcom. Anyone think this may be the reason the 9900 has such limited production?

It is rather funny. AVX has made some incredible phones that were WAY ahead of their times. The 9155, the 9500. Then they got a little weak with the 8600 and 8900.. Then they come out in STORM with the 9900. Whats funny is that the 9900 feels more like an old toshiba product.

If UTStarcom goes to the roots and releases more phones like the 9900.. Oh my they will be a ruling facotor in the wireless world. Well at least for VZW anyways.

Does anyone have ANY idea of what is going to happen with UTStarcom?
