I'm with you on that, let's see some 2 megapixel camera phones like the rest of the providers, and some more wifi phones.

What is wrong with the 7130? 2 megapixel? What phones right now are 2 megapixels/ Largest I have seen in America is 1.3.

2 mega pixel + phones are primarily GSM.
When the vendors start making CDMA handsets with more robust features then Alltel will carry them.
The Kyocera KX12 is a very nice phone. I don't care for Blackberry handsets but the 7130 is a good handset.
Snuggles is a phone junkie and believes just because it is made then Alltel should carry it. No matter technology, cost of handset (which in turns reflects cost to customer), and whether the handset actually performs its primary function very well (cellular calls). Samsung might take a good picture but it is crap on obtaining a good cellular signal.

Good post. Can't say I do not believe you. I prefer tested phones that will work and that is what Alltel seems to get. (I give them a pass on the 8910 though) LOL

Two statements for you:
1) Primarily GSM
2) Samsung
I did not say CDMA carriers did not have ANY 2+ mega pixels cell phone. The number or variety is extremely low. That means the selection is very slim. Samsung handsets may have nice gadgets but they lack quality. Samsung handsets are good for inter-city usage but lack the ability to provide quality service on the outer edges.

It does not matter if it is US available. Actually, it shows that once the product becomes available in the US then more carriers will sell the handsets.

Sprint currently offers two 2 mega-pixel phones. The Samsung 800 Slider & The Samsung 940. Sprint also offers five 1.3 mega-pixel phones. The Sanyo 9000 & 7500, The Samsung 900 & 920, and The PPC 6700 PDA. All of these phones are able to access the Sprint Power Vision High Speed Data Network. Also an interesting side note, all of these phones are able to receive music downloads from the Sprint Music Store & Access the Sprint EVDO TV. Altel does not offer a phone that can do this at any price.

UMMM yeah I will give you the 2 megapixel camera but Alltel offers MobiTv and the evdo and even streaming radio on the razr and other various phones. So your last statement is not very accurate. Please know the carrier before you try and put them down.

Right, Sprint would prefer to distract you with fancy add ons, bells and whistles to disguise their lame-a$$ service btw Alltel has the PPC-6700, the Razr and soon the E815 all EV-DO and all available with add-ons and most importantly you can make a call on the freakin' thing without dropping, Sprint bites!!!

You know Snuggles, you seem to care a lot more about the phone than the service.

So here is what I think you ought to do:

Drop Alltel and pick up a service with better phones and stop bugging people in here about them. Alltel obviously puts service above cell phones, and its getting annoying seeing the same post twice a week.

If you don't like how Alltel chooses it's phones, GO TO VERIZON OR CINGULAR.

Unless your mommy and daddy don't let you :-|

I can see that Alltel is very good at brain washing their customers. Mobi-tv has been around far to long. The current service is avaible for all sprint phones. The same is true of the streaming media. Sprint has had this option on its phones for the past two years. And last but least what good is EVDO access for a company the maintains a still mostly analog network, that still continues to rent towers from other carriers in order to keep a nation wide map. I put it this way, do you really want to be with a company that will only rent service. Makes me feel like they do not trust the system they have built. An the resent buy out of Cellular-one, what is that about. they run a GSM network. GSM does not even support EVDO. Kinda seems like they ...

Are you really that clueless? 😕 Alltel is nearly 100% Digital. Analog remains as a backup until 2008. Sprints native network is so sparce, Alltel owns and operates the nations largest wireless network. As for being regional I would much prefer a regional carrier like Alltel or US Cellular with network quality and a great roaming agreement and very competitive pricing vs Sprextels patched together POS network that drops calls and has subpar indoor signal. Lets see I use my TV for watching shows and my phone for making calls but I guess if you are a Sprint customer you cannot get enough signal to make a call so what else are you gonna do with the phone hey I got it watch TV. Maybe they will come out with a Television that gets signal so you...

You should probably do some reseach before you post something you know absolutely nothing about, Alltel did buy out Cellular One/Western Wireless, but it is not GSM it is CDMA.

Just for your own information even the site you are talking on states that cellular-one recently bought out by Alltel is a "Dobson Communications is a multi-regional carrier offering service in 16 states across the country. The company offers service under the Cellular One brand in most regions, but under its own brand in Western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. Although originally a TDMA carrier in most areas, the company is currently migrating to GSM technology."

Man, you are just a little off.
Alltel acquired Western Wireless not Dobson. Western Wireless, based in Bellevue, Wash., is a premier rural communications provider with wireless operations in 107 markets in 19 states. The domestic retail stores operate under the Western Wireless and Cellular One brand names.
Alltel had to divest the "Cellular One" brand name, and Dobson Communications who already operates under the "Cellular One" bought the rights from Alltel for 1.3 million.

As for your statement on tower space, you are little off.

Majority of the wireless carriers have sold or leased there towers to a third party company. (American Tower, KGI, Crown, etc) Those third party companies have leased out space on the tower to multiple carriers.

Also, Western Wireless was primarily a CDMA carrier with GSM overlay in selected markets. The GSM overlay was put in to pick additional roaming revenue from T-Mobile and Cingular rural markets.

I hate when trolls come in here for no reason but to cause some ****. If you want to post about how good something is, Please know what you are talking about. Alltel did not buy Dobson so that blows all your credibility period. You can have sprextel. Their is not more carrier that gives me more adds than Sprint!! THanks for that sprint!
