Alltel in former ATTWS markets

Since i can't say this on the phone I am going to say it here.

Alltel's coverage in the Oklahoma city area and everywhere they took over for ATTWS's divested markets, completely sucks. They killed are network and now I have to listen to the people bitch to me like I am from Alltel. I can understand there frustration but if Alltel really wants to make money from the buyout of ATTWS's divested markets they better smarten the hell up and get there stuff together. I know they took over are network that worked fine in the past and killed it. If this is any indication of how they plan on running a business I see why I get so many complaints from people about them.

The best suggestion I have for old ATTWS customers in these select marke...

I started getting the complaints a couple days after we finally received word that Alltel had purchased the markets, and well its not just one complaint its about a dozen or more a night, before Alltel was officially in these markets they worked fine.

As did we. When the take over occured April 15, the lease on the name expired shortly thereafter and the network needed to be flashed to avoid the use of the AT&T Wireless name. This flash actually caused some un-forseen issues that we had to deal with here in store too. I can definitely tell you that the coverage everywhere is bad. That is because the AT&T Wireless towers that were in existance have been and are being removed. We have had numerou...

Hey they need to convert the network to CDMA so until that is done of course there might be a couple holes. Give them a chance to convert the network over and get people off TDMA handsets. They have not even been in there and selling service for more than a couple months tops so chill out hype and wait till it improves or pay your 200 and do not let the door hit you on the way out.

A couple of holes is always going to happen I did not say that it was a couple of hole I have customers that travel 20+ miles a day and they have the issues everywhere with multiple phones, so I know its not a device issue and I know its not just a hole.

Correct, it is not just a hole. An entire THIRD of the GSM network in the area has been dismantled. This means that 1 out of every three towers that GSM customers used to be able to access has been removed. This will cause a wide service outage in those areas, especially in those areas that were being served exclusively by those towers.

This issue will be automatically resolved for the former ATTWS customers once they switch < ...

That would make a valid argument, but there is also the fact that I mainly get calls from TDMA customers having these issues.

I also am not contract to work for Alltel I am contracted to work for ATTWS/Cingular, and if they want to fire me for giving my opinion and thats all it was then. They can, but nothing is going to stop me from express my given right to have an opinion

It is a valid arguement. Cingular has not used the TDMA network in years. The agreements that were in place with ATTWS are in the process of expiring and are not being renewed. The towers that were in the divested areas are being taken down--TDMA and GSM alike.

I did not say that you are not entitled to your opinions...

really Alltel is a great company I cannot believe you won't try them out and take advantage of the wonderful benefits and good pay. They are growing so quickly but at least let them take over and convert the network before you tear them apart like that. Remember you where at Attws and we know about their reputation and network.

I work for a third party company that has been contracted to take calls for ATTWS, hence when the divested markets are gone I will most likely then be taking calls for Cingular, or maybe a plunger sales company I don't know.

Well I will give you that then since you work for a third party contractor. Alltel puts a alot of money into their network and they will do so even more cuz that area was a huge purchase for them. They still do not officially take over in your area until the beginning of August so that gives them over a month to get everything online. I know it sucks know but it will be a lot better when the network goes online.

That is something I hope for in Alltel's case because if they plan on rebuilding or even building a re-pore is these markets it will require a miracle the customers there are upset beyond anything that anyone could have imagined

I don't work for Alltel or any cell phone company for that matter. However, I am a customer of Alltel, Tmobile and CellularOne. I have these 3 carriers for various reasons both business and personal. I'm also a former customer of Sprint, Nextel and Cingular. I can tell you if I lived in a city where both carriers (Alltel and Tmobile) existed and I had to choose one, I'd choose Tmobile. Both carriers have their pro's/con's when it comes to plans/prices and coverage areas. But Tmobile blows the competition away when it comes to Customer Service.

If any employee of mine, payroll or contracted, was bashing my company on a public forum and I found out I would fire them in a heart beat, where do you get off hiding behind a user id and badmouthing a company who directly or indirectly pays your salary. Grow some nads and either shut up and do your job or quit.

I do my job, I have nads. You are as well hiding behind a nick, chatting on a forum, tell people off grow some nads yourself and if you think your little comments will stop me from giving MY honest opinion (not anyone eles's) about a company then keep dreaming.

Forums are here so that people can give there opinion about things. I am here telling people what I think. If you care not to read it thats your choice. I unlike some reps on other forums bad mouthing the customers. I am here telling people whats happening and well anyone that does not want to read this does not have to.

This post was made to educate people on what a care rep that worked for ATTWS thinks about Alltels buyout of the divested markets, more so in the Oklaho...

I have abosolutely no problem telling people who I am and where I am located because I am not afraid or embarrassed by any of my posts.

Mark Day in Clearwater, Fl

I agree that you have the right to give your opinion what I do not agree with is any person who has a partnership with their employer and who relies on that employer for a paycheck spouting off about how lousy they are, The adult thing to do is quit if you are that unhappy then feel free to rip them a new one but not while you are being paid by them, come on think about what I am saying and if it still doesn't make sense to then you there is no hope for you. Maybe you should go to the Cingular forum , you might get more sympathy there!

I am not spouting off about my employer I work for a company named Startek, who is contracted by Cingular wireless, hence since we are contracted to Cingular Wireless I work for them, we are fielding the calls for the divested markets or legacy ATTWS customers until they migrate to their prospective company's when that time comes, when that happend I will be more then happy to take the calls for cingular and leave the Alltel forum.

I am well don't mind giving my name if requested;
Janet Henderson Cornwall, Ontario (thats is in Canada)

Since I am fielding calls for Alltel I will give my thoughts on how things are run.

Understandable. If he could try the coverage he would not bad mouth it. But how are you going to bad mouth something you have never seen or even tried. Alltel puts so much money into their networks it is ridiculous. I sell to people all day long who come to us based on friends telling them how good are coverage is. OKC is not even alltel yet and they have not implemented the network.
