ETF Question?

We stood in line and got a storm at Verizon and I am porting one line to verizon.

I read somewhere that when you are not out of contract and you port the phone number over to a new company. They do not prorate the time left on the month you prorate.

Can anyone verify this for me because we ported the phone 8 days into our new billing cycle so are they going to still charge me for the whole month? Or will it be prorated since we cannot use the phone on that line anymore. I already have the $200. ETF fee on my bill. There are still other lines of service on the account we ported from.

Thank you

Sandy

Yes, your last bill is a full one. If you ever leave VZW it will be the same over there

I am curious how that can be if you have paid the penalty ($200. ETF) and your not using the service.

I have 9 other phones at Alltel and I am leaving them until VZW actually takes over but I have to say I dont feel it is fair especially paying the $200. ETF.

I wonder if all the cell providers are like that I might research it for when the big takeover comes along.

With VZW, a standard disconnect (Not using service anymore, don't need to keep number, pretty much anything other than a port) terminates at the end of the current billing cycle. This prevents pro-rated final bills, and eliminates for the most part people having to send in a payment for a final bill. In the even of a port, it is terminated same day, thus causing a pro-rated final bill.

So, fair warning. If you carry a 1000 minute plan, and you port out on day 15 and have already used 800 minutes, you're going to get slapped overage on your final bill. Also, if you are on a family share, and are only moving one line at a time, be sure you make plan arrangements if the line you're porting is the primary line on the FSP. I've seen hor...

It is common in the cell industry to not prorate the final bill...
