did you even read that it has nothing to do with alltel as a company it has to do the TPG, the private firm that purchased alltel. Not with alltel, Alltel is a very profitable company

HA! All those nuts out there that thought Alltel was just purchased to fatten up and then sell were wrong.

Umm.... they are an investment firm. What else would they have bought them for? Fun?

Plus they are going to make 6 billion for less than 7 months worth of work once this final deal closes.

They grew it from 12 billion subs. to over 14 billion subs. during those 7 months as well.

They bought them to make a profit, but their goal was a long term profit not to immediately turn around and sell the company. Did you read the article?

I did read it. But I have also read many other things recently, like you have too. And the norm still remains the same. TPG and GS were also recently bought buy CitiGroup. TPG and GS are not selling Alltel because they are not profitable. It's simply that they have a chance to pay off all of their debt and make almost 7 billion in less than 7 months. Then their company is going to be changing names too. They are simply an investment firm. It's a win-win for them.
