I told a bunch of you jokers just a few months ago that Alltel was ripe for a takeover because they were no longer steering their own ship. A bunch of you told me how wrong I was. Well, read 'em and weep! Thank God Verizon has taken over this sputtering behemoth. All the boys and girls at the top will get their golden parachutes, as I said they would, and the rest of you better update your resumes.

To those of you who were so certain that my prediction was completely off the mark, I say this.
The reason I got out of the cellular business was not because I was about to be let go by Alltel, although I'm sure that would have happened. The main reason I have chosen to stay away is the shortsightedness of just about every provider out there in getting solid service to those people who have had lousy cellular coverage or nothing at all. We are rapidly becoming a nation of wireless technology. The day of the landline phone is coming to a screeching halt. The cellular companies...all of them...have chosen to enhance the services where most of the population is, resulting in bills for service very few of us really want, while...

how do they come out positive with more debt then worth??? just because they made money for the quarter does not mean that its truly profit.......twenty somthing billion in debt and 5 billion in value there is no profit at alltel as far as what i can see.

I actually think the only profit is the bigwigs at top making a few dollars per share than when they bought Alltel, probably as a short term investment.
