I din't realize that it was a three way merger as I understand the deal that is on the table is between Western Wireless and Alltel.

its not a 3 way deal yet...just said they are looking at uscc like oprah looks at a baked ham..

well I guess we will see what happens now. either I loose my job with wwc, or I get to continue and devote the same amount of energy with alltel. I look forward to the latter. I am listing to the webcast right now of the share holder meeting. very exciting, and that coverage map is awsome. we will no quickly become a major player in the game

If you look at the coverage maps for the "new" Alltel (incuding PSC and WW) then lay over the actual coverage areas of USCC it would make a great fit. With the exception of a few states it would give them the entire country as a market and make them into one of the "big boys" real quick. Then maybe someone could actually start advertising and bring both companies from the "let's see what Verizon does" mode of thinking. It would definitley be a great move for them. Looking at the money sheet it would have to be a merger not much of an aquistion because of the price of the stock for both companies. Would make life real interesting real quick. I think that is far more likly that Alltel will merge/buy USC that for Verizon to buy Alltel for one big reason "Monoply". 😳

I would think that they will keep the Alltel name because in some areas there is a Dobson cell one and that would just be more confusing if they have half they company called one thing the other another!! JMHO

As far as I know WW does not have anything to do with GSM. And there are already markets that have both Dobson and Western Wireless Cell One.

I doubt ALLTEL will be having a major acquisition like USCC so soon after the WW merger.

I also doubt VZW will be looking to buy ALLTEL in the near future, especially with the WW news, it'd cost them too much and they've already got a boatload of debt. Sorry speedy but I think your sources are wrong.
