Let's see...

We all have seen the corporate media releases from Alltel.
We all have seen the media speculation reports.

I wonder...

Same information since February!

Rumors, rumors, ideas, and thoughts but no concrete or accurate information.

However, I do suspect something around the time frame of May (end) to the first couple of weeks June. That's the time frame Alltel gave on the corporate earnings call.

A large scale billing system conversion takes place in June. Alltel will remain Alltel at least until 2008...

Alltel will remain Alltel, but that still doesn't leave out private investors. I talk to an area VP about once a week, and that is what he keeps hinting around about. Who would want to change the name? Alltels' name is to well-built.

An area VP, is a VP/GM and they NOT know crap!

No one outside of the executive management and board of directors knows anything about Alltel's future.

I believe if an investment group buys out Alltel, the Alltel name will stay, and as long as they hold onto the company.

The speculation I've read is that a private investment group would merely hold on to it for a larger carrier later.

Yea that is 100% accurate. They would streamline operations and probably get rid of assets that are not working whether it is getting rid of some towers and employees and then they would turn it around to sell it to a bigger carrier company.

Agreed. It's in a holding company, now. Changes won't happen until Verizon or Sprint, or Comcast (I think) comes up with the financing. The one that scared me the most, was ATT looked pretty serious at Alltel. That would make my life miserable!

Being bought out my another company / investor group is never good. They are always looking for ways to make cuts to increase profits.

I just heard about the proposed (again) buyout of Alltel within the last couple of weeks, while I was involved in a systems and sales training class. I have just gone to work for Alltel in Virginia, where the new billing system is being implemented. I have read that the only other company that is able to even think about taking over the Alltel footprint is Verizon, so theoretically, I could be working for them before the end of the year. From what I can tell, it all remains to be seen, but whomever said the secrets are well guarded is absolutely true. Verizon does NOT have service in my part of Virginia, so I can't get a local number. However, my Verizon service based out of another city works fine where I am...I'm fairly certain I'm us...
