Any questions about VZW please let me know and Ill be happy to answer them.

as for my circle and your current alltel plans my thoughts (not official but very likely to be the case)

you will not lose my circle. Most likely VZW will allow you to stay on your plans however with the understanding if you upgrade your phone at promo pricing you will have to change to vzw nationwide plans.

which will not include my circle but will include unlimited IN calling to 80 MILLION CUSTOMERS.
--

Again, any questions about VZW please ask!

Ha good one. I actually really don't care about the whole VZW/ATT/Alltel/Sprint competetion. VZW signs my checks so obviously I am going to back them. I just hate when people like BB come on here and just make stuff up and start the most ridiculous threads. He is probably a 14 yr old boy who hasn't gone through puberty and isn't sure if he likes dude without their shirts on or not.

SOCIALIST views. Did you forget my Carrier is a GSM carrier becasue I DON'T want

The SAME GUI the carrier deems appropiate on my phones

I don't want to have to pay everytime I upload a picture or download a ringtone

I Don't want to pay $10 a month for Voice Nav.

I don't want the carrier to decide which phone I can use and which phone I cannot use on their network

No I would say freedom and flexibility are terms only a GSM carrier could claim.

Verizon is the Socialistic Carrier controlling ev...

Not yet. It still has to be approved by shareholders (well TPG and Goldman Sachs) and be approved by regulatory bodies. So far, XM and Siri are still going on a year and a half now without being approved. Of course, it probably will not be like that but it has not closed yet.

No one is more mindless than those who believe Verizon is the next coming. I mean really look at what you give up to claim Verizon as your carrier as if its some kind symbol of success.

You are hooked on a controlling carrier who dictates everything you can do with your phone and how.

Nokia just said no to ATT when ATT wanted to eliminate the free voice nav on the N95, But at least ATT does not charge me extra to use the phone on their network, nor do they bother me to sign ...

Sorry bud, your pleas and tree hugging views are hitting deaf ears. I have a nice cushy job for the company so they win the battle.

If you would like, we can be friends still.
I enjoy: sports, lifting, hot chicks, beer, etc etc.

I don't enjoy: my mom's basement, dudes with their shirts off, van's with their windows blacked out, Josef Stalin, etc etc. Any questions feel free to ask.

On a serious note, I really don't care about Nokia's or unlocked phones or free GPS or saving the whales. My main concern is my paycheck and making calls when I need to. I had AT&T for 4 long years and I'll tell you what, I hate GSM, I hate their cust service, and most of all, I hate those shady reps that assured me Motorola made the best phone.

You forgot to mention Cingular buying out AT&T Wireless. Nonetheless, there were major divestitures and conditions set by the regulatory bodies in order for them to go through. Read the orders you can see. I will just show the Cingular/AT&T Wireless one. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/10/26/109 8667725412.html “Cingular must offload assets in 11 states to ensure the takeover does not lead to higher prices and reduced innovation for customers, the Justice Department's anti-trust division said.”

Actually, SWB bought both the ATT Name (that was all that was left of the company) and Bell South and Cingular. But other than that, you are probably right, they will approve, but until they do, there is still Alltel, and they are still separate from Verizon. The process will probably not be complete (though it could be) before Christmas, but probably will be completed before this time next year. That's just my humble observations of similar buyouts and such, that is all....

xm and sirius also has strong opposition from the NAB because they think it will hurt their business (terrestrial radio). they are spending alot of money and influence fighting it.

I dont think this will have a problem passing the FCC/DOJ. and im quite sure shareholders will see the long term value in this.

Oh, I do not think so either but I was just saying you never know these days when it comes to the regulatory bodies. If you can see by the slide show, I put up on the Verizon forum you can see that there are many overlaps so they have to obviously see those assets and disperse them.

Of course, there will be issues. They overlap 15% and they have roaming agreements, well Alltel has, with many of the other companies like AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint. Therefore, the regulators have to work on those issues.

in the big scheme of things - 15% - plus they have about 6 months to work out the roaming - but you are right. I was talking about no issues getting the deal closed anyway - both parties working towards that. They'll figure out the details.

Well roaming and divestitures are huge issues that the regulators have to go through. I haven’t seen any papers but I think it’s more than 15% that they overlap. Some analysts say 20-25%.

There is also a $500m breakup fee that if the divestitures and roaming agreements will give X amount of loss in value to the transaction then the transaction won’t go through.
