AT&T Vs. Verizon Network Wars...

The biggest question is whether Verizon's network will handle the iPhone. If it does, then AT&T will look even worse because AT&T said the iPhone brought more strain than any other smartphone. If Verizon can tackle it, then AT&T has some 'splainin to do. But if Verizon buckles, then they won't exactly be the nation's most reliable network.

But the thing is, I don't think you are going to see an immediate impact either way. Sure, there will be people who will pay upward of $500 to get out of their AT&T contract and move to Verizon. But I don't think you will see the mass exodus that folks are predicting. Most iPhone users aren't rich enough to drop that kind of money. So Verizon will see a steady flow of customers if anything. Seems like AT&T's network performance should improve with customers leaving for Verizon. 😉

LOL With a Verizon iPhone the ol debate can crop up again...

I think I'd take consistency more than speed. Granted I've never had the problems people talk about with their iPhones, but I wonder how much of a difference it will be.

I do wish I had the wifi hot spot though...but this is why competition is so amazing. One will force the other to innovate. AT&T no longer has a strong hold on Verizon so they will have to be innovative and offer for. It works out for everyone.

I agree, competition is the driving force. If i were to get one, I would wait until there was a Verizon LTE IPhone. Then I could talk and surf at the same time.

I agree, Jeff. Here's my take on it. iPhone will continue to do well on both networks, but has been burning out its popularity a little even as an exclusive AT&T handset. Once the iPhone stops being an "exclusive" thing, and AT&T's ace in the hole so to speak, you're going to see some wicked handsets popping up that will be competing with each other and eclipsing the iPhone. CES brought along some killer products that have me drooling. iPhone will hold it's own, but I think folks will move past it as the holy grail of cell phones...

If the iphone were to cause data issues it wouldn't affect voice calls at all on CDMA.
