It's finally here !!

That day when after 3 1/2 yrs, another company carries the iPhone! Though it will look like an iPhone and charge like an iPhone, the experience won't be iPhone. And Verizon looks hypocritical since "Droid does" and "There's a map for that". Ah to relive the days of the Motorola Razr. Have fun, Verizon iPhone users, I'll be calling you and hopefully if you're not on the internet or listening to Pandora or on Facebook, you'll answer!
Awww, sounds a bit like "sour grapes"... Razz
You realize that you will still be able to answer the phone while you are using the internet right? The radio used for talking takes priority over the one used for internet. What that means is that if you are listening to Pandora and someone calls you...
Congratulations!!! Only it runs on CDMA so it will be as slow as molasis in january.

Verizon is so hypocritical

How does Verizon welcome the Iphone to their network when they've done nothing but blast it for years? This is so stupid. And the media seems to have forgotten "Droid Does" This is why I hate the big cell phone companies. They are all money hoarding hypocrites. Plus, CDMA only. This thing is going to suck.
It's not religion; it's business. They're not being hypocritical; they're being smart.
I hope you will never ever be a C-Level executive would bankrupt that company instantly.
yea they're pretty hypocritical indeed and terrible liars and swindlers (oh the telco world) how u sicken me Crying or Very sad

Early Upgrading

Will VZW offer current customers under contract an upgrade path for the iPhone? For example, I know AT&T at least offered slight discount if you were still under contract...I think it was $100 more then the 2yr? I could be wrong on that. Does anyone happen to know anything about it?
Ummmm...I doubt it. It seems Verizon is closing the early upgrade loophole altogether.
No, it's stated in the FAQ on their website. Only people currently elegible for upgrade are permitted to get the subsidized price. »
The upgrade ATT offered was for their 2nd and 4th generation devices.

Early upgrades are pretty much gone.

Jan 11, 2011, 6:01 PM

corporate store only? or will indirect stores get to handle it?

anyone know
Based on what they did for AT&T, indirects will not carry this phone at launch, and let me tell you this is not a bad thing. When you are able to carry this phone there is a good chance your company will have to change there comp structure because th...

Lie phone sucks.
Verizon seems to not think that.
I feel like hell just froze over.
It does not matter what it cost or what the bill is, people will buy it. Verizon has the largest network despite it is the most expensive. Same with DIRECTV it is the most expensive and has the most customers. You get what you pay for, ATT sucks.

Jan 11, 2011, 8:30 PM

still a no no

it is still wiser to keep my android device and just get apple's ipod touch 4th gen..

no to iphone period. lol
I agree. NO to the iphone...for me. YES to Verizon offering the iphone as an OPTION for other VZW customers who maybe have yet to taste the sweet fruit which is the Incredible and settle for an Apple. *Shrug* Whatever. No way would I continue to ...

Apple = iFail

iPhone launches, no 3G when 3G is available. iPhone 3G launches, no video camera, no iTunes/App downloading over network, no MMS, and copy & paste (at launch). iPhone 3Gs launches, has the specs that the iPhone 3G lacked. iPhone 4 launches, "Death Grip", no Adobe Flash, no FaceTime over network. iPad launches, no USB support, Adobe Flash, front/back facing camera(s), FaceTime, etc. iPhone 4 for Verizon Wireless has been announced, and it's CDMA only. No VoRA, and no 4G when 4G is available (LTE/WiMAX/HSPA+). Apple always keep their consumers and followers wanting (teasing) more. Apple makes ONE phone a year...ONE. Android>iOS will not be lining up for an iphone anytime soon. Got it!
I can't argue with that!
Oh wait...

Don't buy one.
As do many manufacturers. They make the earlier versions with less features and with bugs so that they can manufacture an updated device to make more money. It's all purely business. Apple knows what flaws its devices have and they know how to fix ...

CDMA iPhone not a VZW exclusive

Down w/ exclusion, up w/ level competition:

"Just hours after Apple COO Tim Cook explained that the relationship between Apple and Verizon is not exclusive, the Rural Cellular Association released this statement from RCA President and CEO Steven Berry: 'I hope that Verizon will re-affirm its previous commitment to allow smaller and regional carriers to obtain access to popular smartphone and other next generation devices six months after their launch. Further, I seek Verizon's support in encouraging Apple to make the iPhone and iPad available to all RCA members within six months of their release.'" ... »

This Is An Insult.

I expected VZW to announce that they would offer an iPhone. However, I would've presumed that it would be launched as the new iPhone in June.

Instead, they take an iPhone4 and bait unsuspecting consumers that have been lusting for this news, and throw them a very soon to be outdated variant just for the sake of sales and able to claim they have the iPhone. I feel really bad about this and so do my family members that work for VZW. Deception at it's finest. So much greed generated from this single product, should re-define it from the Jesus phone to the Anti-Christ.

John B.
Your concern is touching.
Besides that if they waited until june, that would be 4 more MONTHS of customers bitching that Verizon didn't have it.

If customers are stupid enough to buy this device, then let them. If they're such apple fans, they should KNOW when apple releas...
Jesus Christ Slammer I thought you were more level headed than that!

Anyone noticed that today it's no longer "Android VS iPhone"?

It's "which iPhone should you get"

There is no real bashing on the iPhone right now, which is really weird to me, its mostly just trash talking carriers.

I haven't even noticed anyone making the standard "iSheep" or "iDiot" or even the "drinking koolaid" comments.

This is really odd, this IS phonescoop isn't it?
We're off drinking ourselves into a stupor. Sure the "When is verizon getting an iphone" question is answered... now the "I've been a loyal customer for a billion years.. I want to upgrade 15 months early" onslaught begins.

Death to the rumors!

The iPhone is coming to Verizon now. The best part is no more rumors! Thank goodness!

I bet all of you people

who are addicted to Big Red can't control yourselves right now. lol you people are ridiculous. seems the majority of people are Android users and don't give two ****s about the iPhone announcement. It seems to be more the at&t people making remarks.
Wow thanks for the awesome contribution to this forum!

Jan 11, 2011, 9:39 PM

And I care, why . . ?

It's bad enough to be under the thumb of Lord Vader Jobs in his walled garden - why add the iron fist of Big Red? I'll take the freedom of a SIM and an unlocked, jailbroken phone every time.

btw, maybe VZ can send you an email with the voicemails from all those calls you're going to miss while you're using your CDMA phone as a WiFi hotspot.
Why did you bother posting if you do not care?
No simultaneous voice and data means if i'm talking on the phone on an active call, data won't work. It doesn't mean if i'm using data that an incoming call or sms won't work.

Jan 12, 2011, 12:17 AM

No simultaneous voice and web a big thumbs down

Getting voice as well as visual directions was always a huge plus while on at&t. This was also nice to be able to web surf when you're on hold. Hopefully they have a fix as there was some talk about getting CDMA networks to support simultaneous voice/data.
If this is a deal breaker then the CDMA iphone or ANY CDMA phone for that matter is not for you.

Jan 12, 2011, 8:52 AM

Does any one know will facetime work on the Verizon iphone 4 over data alone?

AT&T Vs. Verizon Network Wars...

The biggest question is whether Verizon's network will handle the iPhone. If it does, then AT&T will look even worse because AT&T said the iPhone brought more strain than any other smartphone. If Verizon can tackle it, then AT&T has some 'splainin to do. But if Verizon buckles, then they won't exactly be the nation's most reliable network.

But the thing is, I don't think you are going to see an immediate impact either way. Sure, there will be people who will pay upward of $500 to get out of their AT&T contract and move to Verizon. But I don't think you will see the mass exodus that folks are predicting. Most iPhone users aren't rich enough to drop that kind of money. So Verizon will see a steady flow of customers if anything. Their networ...
Seems like AT&T's network performance should improve with customers leaving for Verizon. Wink
If the iphone were to cause data issues it wouldn't affect voice calls at all on CDMA.

Web OS is still the best

Im sure ill get alot of flack but it really is a shame that the Pre wasn't the Iphone killer that Sprint hoped it would be. Too those of you Iphone lovers who bash on this comment have you used WebOS?? It is the easiest and Best! Yes the hardware could be better. I hope Hp's event next month helps revive it. Im just not one to follow the crowd with this one. At Ces Iphone overload! Yawn is right. Just saying...
"Yes the hardware could be better"

You have a gift for understatement.
Ha! I agree - personally I think the Palm hardware has been nothing short of pathetic, but man what a UI!
I use a BB Torch as my primary device (and LOVE it btw), but wish RIM would steal the WebOS look, feel, and usability. Couple it with Android's...
iOS is currently the most advanced mobile OS in practice. WebOS is leagues ahead of Android and has some of the strongest, most forward-looking foundations of any mobile OS, but it needs better hardware and a round of updates and a development schedul...

To all of of you who need to know...

1. APPLE launched the IPHONE with 2g when ATT was all ready launching 3g. Did the IPHONE fail, no it did not it revolutionize the cell phone industry for good.

2.APPLE is launching a 3g IPHONE and not a LTE one at the same time VZW is launching LTE. Will it Fail, Im sure its not.

3.VZW has over 93 million customers which is more then ATT. It is known that VZW is more expensive then all the other carriers in the nation. This has not hurt sales, they have the most customers despite the cost.

4. For example, DIRECTV is the most expensive tv service provider in the nation but yet they hold the most customers overall.

5. Droid has not been forgotten and will continue to grow on all networks. ANDROID will be the first phone to offer ...
People are just saying that the Iphone will be slower on Verizon due to max download speed. They're not saying it will fail.
...did anyone say it was going to fail?
1. What the hell was the point of your post???

2. Is your name really Daniel? Whats the CD5 for?

3. Whatever happened with that hooker?

4. I am almost sure that Comcast or TimeWarner have more customers than DIRECTV. Probably Comcast.

5. D...
Technically, "Droid" will not "continue to grow on all networks." "Droid" is a Verizon brand.

Android, however, will probably continue to grow on all network.

Sorry, pet peeve...
The iPhone is not the fail. Apple and VZW are the fail due to offering a device that is on the brink of old news to customers that could have the newer one in the next few months. I have lost respect for both these companies for pulling a cheap shot t...
