All USA reviews seem to have had European models - worrying?

Mar 13, 2013, 10:29 AM
I'm from the UK and I note that all the american reviews seem to have been done with European versions of the HTC One. The launch in the UK has just been delayed by at least 14 days due to shortage of phones. My dealer reporting that stock had been diverted to the USA. I pre-ordered on Feb 28th and had a date of March 15th for delivery now it's probably some time in April.
Just realised you are reviewing with my phone! I now we have a special relationship but this is taking it too far!

My understanding is that the Euro one is the only one ready at the moment. Only a handful were sent out to reviewers.

There's no way any UK stock is being diverted for sale in the U.S., as the hardware is different. Ours have different radios for different LTE bands, and thus different FCC IDs etched on the back.

Yes that was my understanding, maybe all production has been switched to USA models due to shortage of parts. But have no knowledge of factory to retailer despatch times.
Have to say despite HTC's brilliant designs the rest of the story seems to be a bit of a shambles at the moment.

Three senior executives leave HTC UK at the launch of the most important product in it's history:

Typical HTC they are no longer a tier one manufacturer so they are always late on all their new phone releases from what I can remember even when the first EVO 4G came out.

There are specific release date from many carriers depending on exactly when you pre ordered the phone I assume that all the early orders from both UK and USA will be fulfilled first as they become available. Sorry to hear your phone got delayed thats always a bummer.
