Review: BlackBerry Pearl
Replying to: locking the keypad by gsmania
We try to approach each phone review from the point of view of the average user. Most users don't read the manual cover-to-cover.
With many phones, there is no need to read manual, because the phone has an intuitive, discoverable UI that can be learned easily just by using it.
Since we know that easy-to-use UIs are possible, and obviously a good thing, we consider that to be the standard by which all phones should be measured.
Therefore we review each phone the way any typical user would - by picking it up and simply using it.
I don't know if the * key key lock shortcut is mentioned in the user manual, but it doesn't really matter. When other manufacturers make a phone with a key lock shortcut key, they put a little lock icon on that key, to help people find it easily.
It's easy to do, and it makes perfect sense. Other manufacturers do it because they understand what a critical function key-lock is. RIM doesn't seem to understand that.
