IM on pearl

Got this with att...just want to know about using AIM with this phone. can i do it? what do i need to do to get it working? and finally, are they as shady as i think in that they count each IM as an SMS? or is it unlimited because it uses the unlimited data i pay for every month?
if you have the data plan an icon shows up saying instant messenger. u can sign in to ur aim on there. they consider the aim as text messages. the data plan is just for the internet and email.

Formatting a 2G card

Is it possible to do it from the phone? Or do I need to get a card reader?

Stupid question

How do you switch from T9 to basic text formatting?
Emmm...good question 😁

You can find a lot of cool info on Balckberry Pearl...I just came accross :

While you are composing a text message, press the Menu button and click "enable multitap," this will make it so that you push twice for the second letter on the key.

how do i get my pearl to stop highlighting text as i type it?

did you know that when your blackberry runs out of memory, it just starts deleting all your text msgs and call history? my pearl stopped saving text msgs and missed calls yesterday; after a stint on the phone with a tech, and wiping my phone and restoring it, it's back to better.

question: among all my previous settings i've been able to restore, there's something that i can't seem to figure out: when i'm typing a message, the word highlights itself until i press the space key and move onto the next word. i find this extremely distracting and annoying. it is NOT the highlight button, i already tried that. anyone know how to turn this feature off? i've been through all the screen/keyboard options and can't seem to find it. the online FAQs ...

Blackberry Pearl Maps Application?

I am wondering if the Blackberry Pearl Maps application requires you to get on the internet and if you're charged in order to get on the web with the phone.
if you have tmobile you have to have to have the internet to access the maps. if you have the internet there is no additional fee to use the maps

Blackberry Pearl Questions

Hello. I currently own a Nokia 6126 and if I have to get a new phone, I would like to get the Blackberry Pearl, but I have some questions. I have been reading on the Cingular forums about how there are users who are having trouble with their Blackberry Pearls. What should I watch out for as far as problems/glitches go? What is your overall experience with this device? Is it reliable? Feel free to add anything else that you can think of about this device. I would appreciate it.
i love my pearl personally. ive had several pda's including several phones based off of the windows mobile OS and my pearl is the best by far i use phones to their full potential from every aspect of entertainment including mp3 and video to business s...

Phone is locking up, is this common?

Have had the Pearl (AT,T model in OH) for just couple weeks now, love the phone and BB service mostly for checking emails so planned on keeping it, but just recently started having problems....

Twice in the last 3 days it has locked up, but didn't even know it until i tried to place a call. Go to dial and immediately flashes "Call Failed" then back to the home page. So got home and called mysel, goes straight to VM, never rings. Had to pull batt out to reset it, twice now. Last time was after I charged it, if that makes a difference. Just wondered if that has been a commone issue with the Pearl, or BB in general for that matter.

Thanks!
i have the tmobile pearl but maybe its the same for att. blackberry has put out a software update. if its not that maybe check to make sure the cage that holds your sim card is secure and actually locked, that would make it fail calls and go straight ...

Firmware to record video??

Hi, I was just wondering if there is going to be a new firmware for this phone anytime soon so that you can record video. I'm thinking about getting this phone for tmobile, but the only thing that keeps me from getting this phone is the inability to record videos.

Also, are mp3 ring tones loud on this phone??
I read on Crackberry.com that there is gonna be a software update for the Pearl and the Curve that adds video capture before the year is out.

White Screen

I've had the Pearl for Cingular/AT&T for several months now. Never had an issue. However, recently encountered random screen white-outs accompanied by a restart type action. Out of curiosity, I did an exchange for a new unit. Same situation. Interesting thing is that it only occurs in my region. Thinking it's either a glitch due to who-knows-what in Bucks County, PA, or something inherent in the unit itself. Anyone else experience this?
yes!! I'm on my second handset... the first went to white screen and hourglass and never came back... This new one has randomly done the same but always comes back and restarts. It's been doing it with more frequency lately (read 5 times in a row ye...

internet browser question...please help!

When I try to go to Hotmail or Yahoo! mail it says that it cannot properly load because of Java Script. It says it cannot run Java Script. Please let me know what I need to do to have full internet browsing! Thanks.
Haven't seen this problem, but try this:

Launch the browser, pull up the menu, go to Options, and click the top radio button to "Support JavaScript". If it's already cicked, I dunno what's wrong. Maybe try Opera or something.
Try Opera Mini as a browser.... apparently it is leaps and bounds better than the built-in browser.

Can the pearl receive pics through MMS? I have heard different answers.
Yes but you need your carrier's Blackberry data package on your account in order to send/receive MMS.

Blackberry Pearl Problems

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 that is eleven weeks old.
For the past 6 days it has been giving blank screens, and now this happens for several hours each day.
My old wireless, a Nokia, lasted for several years with no problems!
All that the Blackberry offers is very impressive, but it is made to last only a few months.
The majority of my calls are made on a land phone in my office.
In my work there is no need for the camera, or music features, I need a dependable cell phone for contacts when I am not in my office.
The problem:
After a few weeks of use the screen started going blank.
After doing a search on the Internet, I discovered that many people are complaining about this very same problem, some are calling this a white screen...
