There's no support for this for right now. I'm sure this will change.

Ok. I've had the Curve for about 2 months now. I bought a rubber cover for it (only the faceplate and keys show). I've had absolutely NO issues with dust. I keep my phone mostly in my pocket. Just thought I would share.....

in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Speaking of OTA syncing of the Curve's calendar, do you know of a service that can do this? I was using GooSync with my RAZR, but the Curve doesn't have SyncML support. GooSync does support the Curve, but I would have to buy a third-party app the will provide the SyncML functionality. Currently, I'm using Google calendar as the online version of my phone's calendar. I am working with a trial version of Companionlink's software which uses BB's Desktop Manager app ...

Thanks for your answers. I would be getting a case since I put most of my phones in my pocket. Some cases cover the outer edges of the phone and from the discussion I followed, this seems to be where the dust is getting into the phone. I posted this link in an earlier message. I assuming that this should do the trick. http://store.crackberry.com/homeAcc essories.asp?hSubCategory=164&hCategory=1005& deviceid=571 Of course, I won't buy one unless I'm sure it will help. That's why I posted the question. ...

Some Curve Questions
Aug 12, 2007, 11:06 AM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Ok, I'm really close to considering this phone. I have some questions. 1) What kind of "over the air" calendar syncing does the Curve have? I'm using goosync for my RAZR v3xx at the moment. Works good. 2) I've heard comments about dust behind the screen. Can a "slip case" that covers the outer parts of the phone solve this issue? I know that would drive me nuts! 3) Any other "gotcha's" that you noticed with this phone only after you started ...

Adding to the question...has anyone use MobiPocket reader with this phone? If so, do you have any thoughts? I use my phone to read ebooks (currently have a RAZR v3xx). I'm interested in the Curve because it has better support and a bigger screen. Screenshots would be great!

Would a case cover help? There are some on Crackberry.com that are made of rubber. They leave the screen, keys, etc. exposed. I'm wondering if the case would cover up the "leak spot" where the dust is coming in. Just wondering... Can I post a link for the cover?

My Nokia 3220 had dust. The good thing about that phone is that you can easily take apart it's "shell" pieces for easy cleaning. How hard was it to take apart and clean the Curve I wonder? I definitely would need a case if I bought this phone. It will be in my pocket most of the time.

in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

I agree. This is one of the best phones I've ever had. I can almost EVERYTHING with this phone. Call quality? Sounds great to me. There are times when it gets "bassy", but all you have to do is back off the ear piece slightly and everything is clear. I've only had to do this a couple of times. Most of the time, the calls are top-notch. Speaker phone is great! Great phone for just $40 (bought with an upgrade).

in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

I love the Opera Mini browser! I really hate the Media Net version...so that's not a problem. So, I guess the only reason I would want BlackBerry Connect is the email right? What else does the extra $15 a month have other than the email service? (The $15 is the "extra" amount it would be if I went to the BB plan). If the email is only thing and I can download and install Opera Mini...I'm in! lol...

Re: Samsung Sync vs Razr V3xx
Aug 5, 2007, 8:36 PM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

I tried the Sync and it really sucked! Aside from the weird interface (which I could have gotten used to), the reception was really bad. I was dropping calls a lot plus I was getting that cutting in and out syndrome. The RAZR v3xx's call quality is great! It still doesn't beat the reception I had on my old Nokia 3220 (simple phone, but great reception), but then of course NOTHING has beat that phone in terms of reception yet. The ...

Blumpelstiltskin: So are you saying that if I bought a new Curve (no contract, just buying one outright) I can just use the MediaMax 200 which currently have without having to sign up with BlackBerry connect? I just want the phone. If I don't have the email service, I wouldn't care. Is this possible?

Re: BB Data Plan, or MediaMax200

in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

I have that same question. I have considering the Curve for some time now. After talking to an AT&T rep, I was told that I would have to sign up for a "BlackBerry Connect" plan that would be $15 more (including additional texting added). I don't know why you have to upgrade your plan to "BlackBerry Connect" instead of using the MediaMax 200 (which I currently have). I think the only difference is the email support using BlackBerry's service. The bad ...

in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

I can only submit one review for this phone (which originally was pretty good!). I've had this phone for over a month now and here's an update of things I can do with it. The phone is still great AND versatile. I don't need a smartphone (Not yet anyway)! Read on.... On my RAZR v3xx I can: -Read ebooks using MobileLibrary. -Sync my calendar with my Google calendar using Goosync. My phone has replaced my "hard copy" planner. -Watch TV Shows and clips from ...

voice/sound recording length
Jul 29, 2007, 10:00 AM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

How long can you record a voice memo with this phone? Currently, with my RAZR, I can record as long as I have space on my memory card. The longest recording logged in at an hour and a half! I like this feature especially when I'm in the creative mood and don' have a pen and paper handy. Can you do this with the Curve?

access file system and ebooks
Jul 21, 2007, 2:56 AM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Some quick questions: 1) Can you access files on removable storage (transflash) and then use applications (either added or ones that come with the phone) to view them? 2) Can you read PDF files from the transflash? Is there an app that is included to do this? 3) Concerning #2, is there any security "crippling" that prevents you from accessing and opening the files? I want to read TXT and PDF (or maybe other formats) on this phone. On my RAZR, I used ...

Voice Mail notification won't go away!
Jul 12, 2007, 9:53 PM

The icon at the top of the screen that notifies you that you have a voice mail message is showing even though I have checked and deleted all messages. There's more to the story. On a whim, I checked my "Messages" screen where the voice mail message count is shown and it shows one message remaining. I have checked and deleted all the messages so I don't know what to do to get rid of the "ghost message" and have the ...

I'll tell you what. If I can read text files from a transFlash card, Adobe PDF files, etc. I'm going with you! Currently, I can do everything I need on my RAZR v3xx (my choice in lieu of the N75 and its "issues"). I'm waiting for the price to go down, more features and functionality added, and improvements on the original.

I love youtube! The mobile version plays on my v3xx flawlessly! Of course, provided your coverage is good at the time. I still have crappy coverage at my house. I called AT&T and they mentioned that my house is further from the tower they have in the area. Apparently, they're sending someone to "look into" the issue. Also, while I had them on the phone, I read them the riot act about 3G. WHEN?! The guy tells me that the towers ...

I tried opening a pic that was 2592x1944 and around 4MB. The phone told me that the image was too large to open. I guess there is a limit. What that is, I'm not sure. I took the same picture and resized to 1024X768 (file size around 150K) and I could view without any problems. Hope that helps!

Repositioning the battery seems to have fixed the problem for me as well. I did this a while ago and everything seems fine. I know in the UK, there have been numerous complaints about this problem with this phone. If it happens again, I'll let you know. Hopefully the battery position fix did the trick!

I do everything you are doing, but I don't use CV as much. Maybe once in a while to access David Letterman's top ten list. I think 3G has lot to do with your situation. Also, I do know that CV (or any video for that matter) will drain your battery too. I'm not in a 3G area....wonder when that will happen!

Did the platinum model come out later? What is the firmware number for that model? In Settings/Phone Status/Other Information/SW Version, I'm using version R26111LD_u_96.71.95R I'm assuming that despite the different color, you would be using the same one. I have the grey model which I think came out earlier.
