Use of 64gb microsd with Samsung Galaxy SIII

The manual says cards of < 64gb can be used. On the newegg site I was looking at a 64 gb sandisk. Under reviews several users said they were using it with the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Of course

New Icon Showing Which Makes No Sense.

There is an icon which has recently showed up which I can find no reason for. In the icon glossary it says “New Voice Data”. “This icon indicates you have new voice data (screen call ) waiting.” I have no voice mail waiting. Alerts are empty. I’ve checked all of the messaging categories. Nothing! Any ideas?

I'm in the process of upgrading my phone right now from 1.02SP to 1.007SP. Just completed and it's rebooting. Update Complete! OK, that seemed to go OK. For what it's worth, the description said it improved pcture mail & Bluetooth.

Tried Every Directory & Subdirectory
Jan 8, 2007, 7:47 PM
in the Sanyo SCP-8400 forum

I just put a .mid & .mp3 (trimmed down like I said using mp3directcut) in every directory & subdirectory on that damn microCD card. I then went into contacts and edited one. Went down to ringers, my Albums, in microSD. As usual it said thas no media in this album as it has always said. So, if it can be done...how...where?

Once In The Phone How Do You Tranfer Them To Ringtones?
Jan 8, 2007, 3:13 AM
in the Sanyo SCP-8400 forum

I've been using a free program called mp3directcut to trim out the 30 sec snips. http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html It works directly with mp3 and I don't have to do any multiple conversions. But the manual doesn't say how to use the mp3's for ringtones once you get them in the phone and up to now no one here has been able to answer that question. So, which directory to you copy them to on the card and how do you then copy them into ...

I just left my own reviw and have it a 4 out of 5. However I did notice the point scall defaults to 2.5 so if you forget to change it that is what you are left with...2.5. The reason for 4 instead of 5: 1. Others have said it. I should be able to use mp3’s on the microSD card for ringers. Although I have been able to use http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ and http://t1mmy.net/phone/phone.html to get around the ”having to buy from ...

Thank you for contacting Technical Support. System indicated that the phone does have updated software 1.002SP. Sanyo is investigating this rare occurrence of the device randomly shutting off while using sprint on demand/music store. We recommend trying again as it doesn’t have lasting effect. Manufacture will release Software as soon as the root cause is determined. Thank you for reporting these problems.

I was just able to get it to do it again. I went into On Demand, started to scroll down browsing news stories and it did it again. Blank screen then it comes back "looking for service". I went back into On Demand and its woking fine now.

It's happened a few times. I believe about twice when using On Demand. I think once when doing a bunch of stuff in contacts. Suddenly black screen and the system just kind of reboots. It come back after a little while saying it's looking for service, etc. It's like a windows crash. It's never done it during a call. Am I crazy or has anyone else had this happen? Seems to me an update is due. BTW my phone lists ...

Re: How Much Internal Ram Is There?
Dec 7, 2006, 7:31 PM
in the Sanyo SCP-8400 forum

So about how much internal Ram is there? Since ringtones (especially mp3's I like to use) have to use it. Midi files are small and use very little but mp3's are somewhat "heaftier". As I've said before my microSD is a 2gb Sandisk. I wish I could direct everything to be saved there.

Re: mp3s work but you can only access ringtones on the internal memory
Dec 7, 2006, 7:27 PM
in the Sanyo SCP-8400 forum

Nah, as I've said here before I'm sure it's so we cab't use a USB cable and transfer them from our PC ourselves. They want us to buy them from Sprint. Anything on the microSD card we can transfer to and from. Snerdley said: That might be by design, since the SD card is removable, and takes longer to access. Maybe reading a large mp3 off the card would be too slow to catch sprint's stupid 30 second ringing window between ...

What Format Ringers Will The 8400 Support?
Dec 6, 2006, 4:13 AM
in the Sanyo SCP-8400 forum

Well, I know it supports midi (.mid) but what else? http://t1mmy.net/phone/phone.html says they have a 1mb size limit. What's the supported formats & video? The manual doesn't specify. I know ringers go to internal memory so that would be a restriction which is disappointing since I'm quite successfully using a 2gb microSD card.

If you have a data package it works great. I've uploaded a bunch. As for the storage in the phone rather than the card, I'm sure that's so you can't just transfer them via usb cable from your computer. If you could store them on the card you could copy them to the card. Sprint doesn't want you to do that. They want you to buy them from Sprint at their absurd prices good for only limited periods of ...

Re: Seems To Be Working Fine

I used t1mmy.net earlier today and it worked fine. As for what you said here: "As far as I know, the ringers can only be assigned from phone memory, not the memory card (maybe it has to do with the slower read access of a memory card), so you'd be limited to 60mb of ringers/applications." Your giving Sprint too much credit. If it were possible to store ringers to the memory card then it would also be possible to copy ringers to ...

I've successfully linked to my PC and have copied pictures and musing files to the phone. Erased them...moved them with no problems. The memory used selection seems to indicate all is going fine and as expected. (Now if I could just figure out how to assign mp3's or even mid files as ringers that I could copy over rather than be forced to download their crap things would be fine.)

I took a chance. I figured I could always return it and exchange it for a 1gb. Well I put it in and initialized it and it seemed to work fine. Of course it shows 1.98gb which is typical. I assume a 1gb would show .9 something. Of course I haven't tried to use it yet.

I got the 7300 2 years ago as of June and am ready to upgrade. Sprint store said they could only transfer over phonebook but they didn't have the software yet. I just looked at and tried bitpim. Looks very promising. I was able to download the phonebook, some pictures I used for individuals, ringtones, & the calendar. Much more than Sprint said they could. But I noticed reading here that 8400 is not supported yet. Well, I haven't ...
