Battery life w/iPhone 5 wifi hotspot
I have a long train commute and try to minimize battery usage on the phone. Battery is no problem on the ipad and I usually connect the ipad to the phone wifi.
Wondering what sucks more juice on the iPhone... Running the wifi hotspot w the screen off or using the phone directly for browsing the web and such. Guessing the former, but any thougnts?
Cheers, all.
port landline to google voice
Hi,
Not sure where to post this so figured here cuz I have verizon... I've been eager to port my land line to google voice and just realized they now allow it for mobile numbers. So I'm thinking I could port my comcast land line to a temp mobile account, then port to google voice. Any one know of a cheap/easy way to do this without a contact? I'd pay a months worth with another carrier...
Flexibility on the Iphone upgrade?
Anyone have a sense if ATT reps can boost the early upgrade plan for people spending under $100? Apparently I have to wait until Dec. to upgrade but I spend so close to $100... $90.
Wonder if I went into a store I would have any luck...?
Re: PDA phone w/out data plan?
Thanks - that pretty much confirms what I thought. Nice to get intelligible, educated answers now and again.
PDA phone w/out data plan?
Hi,
Maybe somebody can help me understand something. I want to upgrade to a pda phone (Q or something like that) mainly for the pda functionality. I use mobile web on my razor and pay something like $5/month - not so bad.
Verizon tells me that mobile web is not available on pda phones, that i need to subscribe to the $40/month data plan to use the web. They said they's a pay per kilobyte option, ...
Still worth it today?
I'm in the market for a new phone and considering the i730, but realize it's a few years old and wonder if it's worth it.
I like the samsung u740, but would like more robust PDA functionality.
But, I can't afford another $40/month for the data plan, so am pulled towards the i730 for the wifi. I'm not sure that the Q or the env are worth it w/out the data plan (and no wifi).
Any thoughts?
thx!
This is the worse phone I've ever owned (w/the best features).
3 things:
Low batter beep - this phone emits the most obnoxious beep for a low batter warning, even if the phone is in silent mode. What were they thinking?
Headset is worthless except for outgoing calls or unless I feel like hanging it from my ear all day long. This phone can't ring when connected to the headset. The ring is a beep that can only be heard through the headset, so when you want to take ...
Re: getting the phone to ring while in bluetooth - beats me.
I was about to post the exact same question. WTF do they expect - everyone to walk around all day w/the dorky ear piece on?
Web Favorites input
Has anyone gotten this down well? It's obviously easy to do this through the 'add favorites' function, but what about bookmarking links that are four or five clicks deep?
Example: On Nextbus.com, I have bookmarked next bus, but I still have to browse 3 or four pages deeper to get to my bus stop. Same w/mail. I have to browse to my inbox.
I can use 'show URL' once there, but there's no copy text ...
Re: Hacking the Screen - me too
same thing. I put 'yo mamma' in the banner input, but still says verizon wireless.
Headset case?
Seen lots of posts on phone cases - what I have yet to see is a sturdy little home for my headset. Something almost as small as the headset that I'm comfortable cramming in my pocket. anyone find such a thing?
Bluetooth Autoconnect question and some other thoughts
First the question... is there a bluetooth autoconnect feature? Seems like it'd be the most usefull for my headset to connect whenever it is turned on. The connection seems to drop and I find myself always having to reconnect them after turning the phone on or after not using the headset for a few hours... Any insights greatly appreciated.
And a secondary question - seems like the 'get it now' programs availabe through this phone are ...
Yahoo Mail
Ok - just got the v710 yesterday. On mobile Web 2 they have a list of mail services - about 10 - crazy ones I've never heard of by the DON'T HAVE YAHOO LISTED? Why is that?
I manually entered mail.yahoo.com, but it wasn't formatted for the fone. This worked just fine on my last 3 phones of various makes.
Anyone figure out how to read Yahoo mail from this phone? Please pass on the ...
