Good but it's lacking.....

Jun 30, 2005 by DaRev1

I used this phone for about a week and this is what I thought:

Pros:

Reception
Ringtones are loud
Edge
Slide is pretty sturdy

Cons:

No bluetooth
No speakerphone
Camera is not that clear
Lousy firmware (needs an undate)

Overall, it's a good phone lacking some important features but hey, it's whatever float your boat.

nice handset

Got this phone a few weeks ago and have been pretty happy with it.

Pro's:
-slide feels sturdy.
-reception is good.
-holds onto signal better than my previous nokia, moto, and samsung phones using cingular service in SE USA. Signal in my office is horrible with any phone, but still able to make and receive calls with this phone.
-ringer is loud. mp3 tones sound very good.
-speaker is loud

Con's:
-Screen is not very good quality
-Camera is not very good, but I didn't buy it for the camera.
-photo caller ID is a nice feature, but the screen only displays a very small version of your chosen picture.
-wish it had an internal antenna.

Overall im happy with this phone and see myself using it for awhile.

Keep Trying

LG attempted to do some good with this device for Cingular folks, but the attempt was merely that.

Aside from the obvious visual similarity to the Samsung P777, LG has not had the best of luck with sliding components ala F9100. In this case, it's not quite as bad, but it does have some problems staying open from time to time.

My other complaints, universal to all LG devices, are 1) the cheap plastic feel of the device and 2) the lousy firmware - can't even view details of a downloaded image.

Signal is inconsistent as well. Checked for strength in a known strong spot, and it was all over the place with this phone, often within the span of a minute or two.

The EDGE on this device does work nicely, I must admit, and the 4x zoom vid cam is a bonus too. But at the same time...LG has some work to do if they plan to win me over. High speed data is only so useful if the firmware limits what you can do.

The idea is right, but the execution could use improvement.

Good not great

Bought this phone on Ebay for $120 unlocked for T-mobile. Just be prepared if you're getting this to use with T-mobile that you won't be able to get to your T-Zones which I found out the hard way. If you're into downloading Real Tones, apparently this phone is not compatible. It's a good phone with some of the most features needed missing. No blue-tooth, no speaker-phone. The volume on calls are very low and you're always having to ask callers to repeat themselves. The ringer volume on the other hand is loud and you can also set it to ring and vibrate at the same time. The camera is good for a phone (need great pictures get a digital camera) and so is the video cam. The phone book is not one of the best but you can put a pic with the person's info which shows up as a mini-me version of the original when the person calls. Overall a good phone.

Pros: Ringer Volume, Camera, Video Cam

Cons: Call volume, No blue-tooth, No speaker-phone and if you're a T-mobile customer, No T-Zones, Not real tones Compatible.
